Hello to the 2 or 3 people reading this. Let’s discuss stupid things football fans say, especially after their team loses:

1)It should have been [score different from final score].

If your team wasn’t good enough to put away its chances, then no, the final score should not have been different from what it was. There is no guarantee the other team wouldn’t have struck back if your team actually did score. If your team was holding possession and creating chances as a by-product of the opposition prioritizing defense because they were ahead, then it is very likely that the opposition would get that goal back if your team would have scored. It’s also likely that the opposition would then pour it on once they were threatened. And thus the final score goal differential would be the same or worse.

But it’s pointless to speculate on what would have happened in a scenario which didn’t even transpire. It’s pointless to fantasize about goals that didn’t happen. If your team failed to score, that’s it: they failed. It’s better to accept reality. There’s no “should have” about it.

2)It could have been [score different from final score].

Could have, but didn’t. This is similar to 1). There is no point in talking about what could have been. If your team didn’t score, that’s that: they didn’t score. Saying “could have” all day won’t change the fact that they did not. Do not pat yourself on the back because your team had many missed shots. Because, after all, they were missed shots. And, many times, those shots came about because of the opposition’s focus on defense because they were ahead. So you were gifted these chances to begin with.

It’s like when a basketball player is given the outside shot throughout the game because the opposition didn’t respect it. So this player will get a ton of chances. If he misses all of them, or makes 1/20, that is nothing to be proud of. If he celebrates the fact he had so many chances, he is a fool. The chances were given to him because the opposition knew they would win if they did.

3)We deserved to win, even though we lost.

No you didn’t. Having more possession means nothing. Having more shots means nothing. Scoring more goals means everything. If you couldn’t score more goals than the opposition, then you did not deserve to win. Simple as.

4)We were the better team, even though we lost.

This is similar to 3). So I’ll reiterate it for those who don’t get it:

Having more possession does not make you the better team. Connecting more passes does not make you the better team. Having more shots does not make you the better team. Only scoring more goals makes you the better team. That’s it. Very simple.

The point of football is to score more goals than your opposition. If you lose, then you were not better. It’s not hard to understand.

5)We were better than what the scoreline indicates.

No you weren’t. If you were better, then you would have scored more, and prevented the opposition from retaliating. People who celebrate missed shots, are fools. Missed shots are nothing to celebrate. A missed shot counts as much as no shot at all. They both result in 0 goals.

6)We lost, but if we played them again the next day, then we’d win.

How do you know that? How do you know what would happen in this alternate universe where they’d play the next day? The fact is that teams don’t play again the next day. The next time they will play again is when it is actually scheduled in reality. Reality is what actually exists. Some fans should look into it.

7)We just lost, but if the same 2 teams faced each other 10 times, we’d win 7 of 10.

Again, how do you know this? Who’s to say the winning team wouldn’t do the same thing the next 9 times you face each other in this imaginary world where they face each other 10 times? No one knows. All we know is that your team lost, and that’s that.

One thing that I find quite pathetic is when people make excuses when excuses aren’t warranted. There are some matches where excuses are indeed valid. For example, in club football: friendlies, the FA Cup, Europa League and some regular season and non-elimination games. Those games aren’t as important as the Champions League or Club World Cup. When it comes to CL or CWC, whoever eliminated and advanced past you, was better than you. Because that was the proving ground to see who was better. Excuses are not valid when it comes to those huge games.

In NT football, excuses are valid for friendlies, some non-elimination qualifiers, Confederations Cup, and in some cases, the regional tournament. But not in the World Cup elimination situations. Brasil can’t make excuses concerning France and Holland in 98, 06 and ’10. Nor can Germany regarding Bulgaria and Croatia in 94 and 98. Teams prove they are better by winning on the big, important stage. Not by rankings or friendlies or lesser games. The games are played to see who is better. The important games, that is. A fan that makes excuses for his team, is pathetic. It is wimpy and cowardly to make excuses. Excuses are for losers.

It’s sad that some fans don’t see the difference in importance of games. They can’t see the difference between a Chelsea elimination of Barca in the CL, and a Getafe win over Barca during the season. If Getafe beats Barca during the season, that didn’t mean Getafe was better. A season is made up of 38 games, 1 game is only 1 piece of the 38 game puzzle. But the Champions League is a different animal. Chelsea gets only 180 minutes to prove they are better. Not a whole season. That’s what makes these games so epic. Because it is ALL on the line, and there is no tomorrow.

Some mouthbreathing fans out there can’t seem to understand that. Another example is the FA Cup. Let’s say Manchester United gets eliminated by Chelsea in the FA Cup. Kudos to Chelsea, but that didn’t mean they were better. However, let’s say Chelsea eliminates United in the UEFA CL. Then yes, Chelsea proved they were better. Because the UCL is much more important, it’s the championship of Europe.

And it goes on in all levels of football. If youth NTs want to prove they are better, they have to do it in Olympic and World Cup Qualifying, or in the Olympics and World Cups themselves. Friendlies do not prove you are better. Friendlies are there for practice, to see what your players have to offer, and to test out tactics. Friendlies are like Spring Training or preseason. But if your team gets eliminated in Olympic qualifying, then those who left you in their dust were better. The official games is what determines a team’s worth.

Let’s discuss more moronic excuses:

1)“We outplayed you even though we lost.” I can’t stand when fanboys say that. The point of football is not to outpossess, it is to outscore. To put that football in the back of your opponent’s net. Many times, a team will let the other outpossess them because that is part of their strategy. That didn’t mean they were outplayed. If a team holds 99% posession, but still loses, then they did not outplay the other team. You don’t get points for possession. Maybe the morons should sing that to themselves ala “you don’t win friends with lettuce”. You don’t get points for possession.

2)“We deserved to win.” Deserved has nothing to do with it. People who say their team deserved to win after they lost, are idiots. You know how a team is deserving of victory? By scoring more goals than the other team. Again, you don’t get points for possession. If you outpossessed your opponent, that doesn’t mean you deserved to win. Score the f’in goals, then you’ll deserve it.

3)“We were unlucky not to score.” Unless a lightning bolt hit your player or something crazy like that, then there was no “luck”. Your players weren’t skilled enough to finish those chances. They can make no excuses. They train every day to be able to score in those difficult situations. Sometimes they fail because they weren’t good enough. Don’t blame it on luck. If he was better skilled, he’d have scored. If your team doesn’t have the skills to capitalize on chances, then they are not better.

So if anyone reads this, go ahead and chime in. Are there any unmentioned excuses out there? What do you say to these excuse-making fools?

There are so many people out there who are ignorant and lacking in integrity. A man has to own up to his team’s losses in the big games. Supremacy isn’t proven on paper, it’s proven on the football pitch when it really matters.

This is a question for all you CONCACAFers out there. Doesn’t matter which league you follow within this great region. You could be from Vancouver or Port-of-Spain, and all points in between.

So, is your league title more prestigious than the CCL crown? I’d think it’s a no-brainer. The CCL gets you to the CWC. It crowns you king of an entire continent. Therefore it’s bigger. But maybe some will (erroneously) disagree.

Let’s see, RSL fans this year have it right. They are feeling a giddiness and anticipation higher than the lead up to Seattle 2009. And rightfully so. Their opponent is hands-down, on paper, the top dog in North America.

The Galaxy, in 2009, were not.

Let’s look at last year. Pachuca fans really wanted to return to the CWC. Were they more excited than for their previous league titles? I think so, especially since it was imperative for them to erase the embarrassment of the previous CWCs (and they only added to their CWC FAIL legacy instead).

How about 2009? We had a club that was still relatively new to Cancun, and even though their fans went wild for their Fall 2007 league title, the CCL gave them a more transcendent happiness. This was a year where Europe produced the most impressive champion, arguably, in its history, and a chance to face them head-on was deliciously imminent. And they eventually did, plus held an early lead as well. It produced memories that will last a lifetime. So Atlante fans also had it right that CCL was a bigger prize.

So, CONCAheads, what say you on the matter? Let’s hear your reasoning.

So rsl is in the Final of the Concachampions. The 1st time a team from their league has reached the Final since the year 2000. That’s right, since Al Gore fought W for the presidency. When Britney Spears was still doable. And before 9/11.

This is the 1st Final for a usa team since the CCL format was implemented. A big accomplishment right? And that league has won 2 CONCACAF club titles before. Big accomplishments too? Let’s look at the 3 more closely.

In 1998, DC United won the title in a single leg Final which was played in RFK stadium. They had full, unearned, 100% home field advantage. They didn’t have to earn it on the pitch. It was HANDED to them. Imagine if it was a proper 2-legger. Do you think DCU would have won down in Toluca? Or merely done enough to win on aggregate? Haha, I think it’s safe to say that the 1998 CONCACAF Champions Cup would be in Toluca’s trophy case if DCU wasn’t given such an enormous undeserved advantage.

Two years later, the Galaxy wins it all. 2 Legged Final this time? NOPE. Full, 100%, undeserved home field advantage again. WTF. The CONCACAF once again helps out a usa club. When was the last time a Mexican club held the entire tourney at their home? It’s ridiculous and corrupt.

Finally, we’re in the midst of usa club football’s 3rd accomplishment. rsl in the Final. They musta trampled some Mexicans on the way, huh? NOPE. Warner and friends rigged the draw to give rsl the minnows Crew and Saprissa. Plus, they have home field advantage in the Final even though their opponent went UNDEFEATED so far in this tournament. This is almost like a WWE storyline. You know, where Vince McMahon helps out the heels to win by cheating.

Is it so hard for CONCACRAP to reseed after every round? They have the time. Just redo it the second you know who the teams are, based on record so far in the tourney. But no, CONCAshit has to rig it as much as they can to help a certain league win. Absolute bullshit.

To be fair, the Mexican League is the one who bends over to get plowed in the rear by Uncle Jack. Did a single owner of 1 of the Mex clubs involved at least call CONCACRAP offices after the draw? I woulda been like, “WTF yo! Why you gotta do us bogus like dat!?!”.

The sad thing is that the media is giving CONCACA the benefit of the doubt. They are assuming that CONCA’s official stance is that they want to ensure an international Final. But the CONCACAF never said that, officially. Ostensibly, it was supposed to be a random draw. But we all know it wasn’t. Which is what makes it more of a sham.

So there you have it. Three accomplishments by that league, all tainted because of CONCAhelp. This CONCAssitance and CONCAcatering is in addition to the FIFA mandate that requires networks to air MML games if they want to bid on the World Cup. That’s right, if a network wants the ultralucrative rights to the world’s biggest event, they have to sign a contract to air and pay the MM League. Unbelievable. What’s next, government funds? Will we see on our paychecks money taken out to pay the MML tax?

I believe in self-sufficiency. There is more pride in what you accomplish on your own than with a benefactor doing it all for you. In a way, MML fans should be somewhat ashamed that their league gets so much help. I’d think it somewhat embarrassing. It’s like the dork in school who the teacher forces everyone to play with, even though no one likes him. Sad sad sad.

So finally, I ask anyone who might read this: How can we stop this CONCAcorruption? Twitter campaign? Facebook? Email? We have to do something to stop this shit, otherwise the next thing we’ll see is someone run on the pitch with a steel chair while the ref is turned around. He’ll smack a player to enable rsl to score, then the ref will turn back around and count the goal. Cue the nWo theme song…
