US v Jamaica: Klinsmann Redeems Himself After Blowing 1st Match
Posted on September 13, 2012 3:28 am
The guys discuss both US v Jamaica World Cup qualifying matches. Did Klinsmann blow game 1 with a totally inappropriate approach? How about the improvements in game 2? Altidore vs Gomez up top? On The Straight Red Card.
Formations are starting points and nothing more then that. The way a formation looks on defense is different then it looks when you attack.
A formation of the same name is played differently from coach to coach.
That’s why some can’t even see what a formation is just by watching it on tv or in person for that matter.
Your players determine your formation. The only coaches who can play a formation the way they want is if the player pool is very big or if they pay their players.
I just look at support and spacing near the ball and the way it looks further away from the ball.
In a 4-4 2 when the ball is lost it looks like a 4-4-1-1. When the ball the two strikers can be next to each other and not 1 in front of the other. Most 4-4-2 have an offensive inside mid and a defensive in side mid. Some those two positions can be inter changeable.
The backs and the mids can be in a diamond shape when the ball is in the center of the field.
The ball is on a flank it can look like this with mids and the same with the backs
flank
Inside mid
inside mid and
Far side flank mid
Thars why formations are hard to spot was the ball is in play.
Also players in a formation should not be always on one side or another they should move around. So they don’t vanish for large parts of th game in games.
In the cource of a game I like to see both wing mids on the same side of the field. Then they work with each other so one caqn make a nice calm uncontested cross
I had it wih the way it might look but it did not come out on this. It does not have to look like a diamond when the ball is on a flank on attack or when your playing defense.
You mean Temryss Lane was talking? I hadn’t noticed.
Maybe “stuttering” is a better description
That second lineup did make a lot more sense, and it’s one Bradley and Donovan can easily slot into when they are healthy again. Not so impressed with Jones. Impressed with how deep our forward pool is. Boca and Dolo look good, but, now that it looks like we will qualify, one wonders if they have two years left in the tank.
Boca is in fantastic shape. I think he’ll get there. Dolo is a “wait and see”–at RB he can’t afford to lose another step. I haven’t seen anyone yet who makes me think LD won’t start at LM the next time he’s healthy. Shea, Torres, and Beasley have hardly blown me away.
Congrats – this is one of the most non-jackass headlines on the BS home page in eons. Other writers, please take note.
You must be a blast at parties.
You must be a fan of Archer’s stuff I assume
Okay, I’ll bite: How is “World Cup 2014: Semifinal Round, Matchday 4 Review” or “USMNT Starting XI to Face Jamaica on Tuesday” a “jackass headline”?
Wonderful video!
