The guys discuss the Clint Dempsey move to Liverpool or Roma. Next, they talk about the insanity of the Isle of Man TT Race. How many racers have to die? Did Mexico and Honduras improve the reputation of CONCACAF at the Olympics? On The Straight Red Card.
Rick Broadbent’s new book about the Isle of Man TT is a stunning insight into the world-famous motorcycle race and the men who race it. It’s called “That Near-Death Thing”
Thanks for that reference point. My partner objects to my desire to by a BMW touring bike and gently cruise the highways and byways. “Well, Honey, at least I’m not doing THAT!”
Oh, and about that whole CONCACAF rep thing, well winning gold in LOndon win previously when previously having only done fourth best when hosting represents progress. It does not necessarily translate to the senior level, true, except when many of your U-23 starters are already getting significant playing time and kicking ass against various international opponents, not just the USA, at the senior level, it seems pretty significant.
Just an update that the 2012 Isle of Man TT race featured no deaths at all after 6 deaths in 2011, 4 deaths in 2010, and 2 deaths in 2009.
Good point about playing on the road in CONCACAF, Europeans don’t get it.
many american (non-soccer fans) dont get it neither
And some American soccer fans don’t get it.
