Should Clint Dempsey Stay at Fulham? on TSRC

Brett and Derek discuss all the hoopla surrounding Dempsey’s possible move from Fulham to Arsenal or Roma or otherwise. Also, Grant Wahl’s Top 15 Seasons for American’s Abroad. Did he make the right picks? On The Straight Red Card.
Grant Wahl is Anderson Cooper or Geraldo Rivera with less hair. He is more of an attention whore than a journalist. But that is the view of a blogger jealous of his press pass. But, speaking of bloggers, his running for Blatter’s job stunt, without having actually ever done any serious reporting on FIFA, stuck in Bill Archer’s craw. Bill may be more of an aggregator of other sources more an original reporter, but, if you want to know CONCACAF, would you be more informed by reading Bill’s blogs, or by reading the entire history of all books and articles written by Grant Wahl?
But he wrote a nice juicy tale for US, or was it PEOPLE or SOAP OPERA Digest?, about how he and Landon Donovan did not get on at first. He really blew the lid off of that one. It was Inside Edition’s finest hour. What? He got somebody to publish that crap that makes Dominick Dunne look like Grantland Rice by trading on an association with Sports Illustrated?
We at TSRC certainly do not read Grant Wahl for his informative FIFA articles. We read Bill Archer. But when we cover soccer journalism across the board, we do read everyone we can.
Yes, you do. And I like your “bs alerts” when you call out stuff that finds its way into some of our more august publications.
Thank you, my friend. We enjoy delivering them!
He is the best North American player by far, he deserves a shot at the big time.
I know a lot of people who feel that way.
Why not Mr. Harrah’s splash some money and actually compete for a CL spot. They have decent players just need a couple of superstars.
One thing Clint might want to think about is playing out his contract. I think there are a lot of strong clubs out there that might be interested in him on a free that might not want to pay a significant transfer fee.
You guys are mixing up the Tom Dooley seasons. Kaiserslautern finished first in the 1990-91 season, which is the season that Grant Wahl mentions. The previous year, 1989-90 is when they finished 12th and won the Cup. Also, Dooley was mainly a defensive midfielder on that 1990-91 team, but he did play a some games as a central defender.
