otherwise Simon Borg will want to have sex with you
That’s brilliant.
Perfect.
That’s brilliant.
Perfect.
Oh, golly, I know, it’s awesome! Even though it’s wrong to disparage the sexual attractiveness of some human beings, it’s OK to disparage the sexual attractiveness of a particular human being. So long as we’re all on the side of right, right?
tambo must be ugly.
Excellent! & Tambo, please screw off.
I see tambo’s point, but Borg kind of set himself up for it.

Disparaging the sexual attractiveness of a particular human being is just being an asshole (or, as in this case, pretty funny).
Disparaging the sexual attractiveness of all women who don’t conform to your outdated views of what it’s appropriate for women to be pasisonate about is being a sexist asshole.
I see what you did there!
Let’s be honest, how many women like their men to be “such die hard” sports fans (or whatever other hobby one can have)?
Simon Borg isn’t any different. Can’t he speak his mind? Just ’cause it sounds politically incorrect doesn’t mean the guy should be suspended for giving some advice. Even if it wasn’t the most sensible statement to make and a lot of us presumably ‘feel’ or think differently.
LMAO
Dan can be funny at times, but this ain’t that funny. Cheap shot mostly. I thought the other BS article and disparagement was enough. Ready to move on?
Ok, now I’m completely sure the reaction is now more absurd than Borg and his stupid mouth.
Can’t let things go, can you guys… lol. It’s kinda pathetic, fyi
The speech police strike again. Personally I think Simon is funny and entertaining, in large part due to his refusal to submit to politically correct group-think. But hey, I like Andrew Dice Clay as well, so go figure. Wish Liberals had more of a sense of humor, but that’s like wishing for the US to win the World Cup. Lol…
To the last three commenters –
I don’t get ONE SENTENCE to make a joke on this? Who’s the free speech police now?
Seriously, I’m usually much more long-winded. If this little drive-by is too hot to handle, you may be reading the wrong blog.
Actually you DID post it. (Scroll up and look. It’s still there.)
Now we are commenting with our opinions. That’s how blogs work.
The speech police are folks who get their panties in wad whenever someone makes an off color comment. (Watch Gran Torino over and over until you get it.)
For the record, I think your post is funny. I just disagree with the point of view. But it’s much healthier approach than a lot of the irate screeching I’ve read over this incident.
I’m really confused. Making fun of someone makes Dan the Speech Police? Would complaining about someone not using their turn signal make me the highway patrol?
I was referring to the liberals in general as the speech police. As I’ve already stated, Dan’s post was funny, I just disagree with the point of view and I’m saying so. As for you being confused, you’ll have to work that out on your own. I recommend you start by Googling “libertarianism”. If you are as open minded and tolerant as you claim to be, you might learn something.
I never claimed that I was open minded and tolerant. Then again, I voted for Bob Barr in 2008. Hey, I bet you could find out about him on Google.
You have a problem with Dan’s point of view. I have a problem with people confusing the policing of speech by authorities locking people up (e.g. the USSR and Solzhenitsyn) and random people on the internet saying that some other person on the internet is a misogynistic idiot.
See the difference? The actual police can lock you up. All I can do is say something like “Simon Borg is the least insightful person in American Soccer not named Kartik Krishnaiyer.” Me saying that has no effect on Borg (or Krishnaiyer, more’s the pity).
This could be an eternal game of ping pong here (which no one wants, I’m sure), so I’m moving on after this post. Just because Simon said he wasn’t turned on by hardcore female soccer fans, he gets suspended for 7 days and everyone starts attacking him on the internet? Do you seriously think he doesn’t want women attending soccer games? If you do, then you’re deluding yourself. He was just sharing a personal preference and he got attacked for it. Personally I would LOVE IT if my wife would paint her face and jump up and down in the supporters section with me. But that’s not Simon’s thing. So let him be honest about what he likes and give the poor guy a break. He loves the game and he happens not to always agree with the politically correct party line. So what? So open your mind a tad and stop constantly looking for things to get angry about.
I’m not angry. I come here for the comedy, f’rinstance a guy who chose the name “iconoclast” getting cranky because other people don’t agree with him.
I’m also not sure how women being soccer superfans became part of the official Liberal-politically-correct-speech-police party line.
Your serve!
“I’m also not sure how women being soccer superfans became part of the official Liberal-politically-correct-speech-police party line.”
Ever since Julie Foudy openly hoped MLS would fail and the USWNT was presented as an exmple of the success of Title IX.
Just chiming in here to say russ is dead wrong about Julie Foudy and iconoclast is understating everyone’s knowledge of libertarianism, the philosophy of frat boys who want to rationalize their Galt-given rights to piss out windows and not give a crap about fairness or the less fortunate.
Actually, market capitalists should fully understand why MLS and its backers would be so annoyed with Borg. They want the business to succeed, right? So wouldn’t it follow that they’d be annoyed with someone who undermines their own marketing efforts? “Hard-core women’s fans not welcome” is, offensive or not, a pretty dumb message to send, isn’t it?
And we have a winner in Beau’s regard. Borg was suspended for disparaging his employer’s customers. Politics aside, that’s just dumb.
Burn any witches recently?
