If it's true, as they say, that a tie in sports is like "kissing your sister" then Major League Soccer 2009 is like going down on her.
      ----------
That totally made my day. :D I may have to steal this at some point in the future. Good job!

Well, in cases of character judgment, it's hard to deny your intuition Bill:

"That was my last straw," he said. "I wanted to run the club the way I wanted to run it and I had Mo's backing. But, it's like everything else, the league runs the show and I wasn't prepared to do it the way they wanted to do it..." -Johnny boy Carver

At least he finally figured out that the league runs the show!

Greeeat attendance there by the fans of the league champions on the weekend, under 7,500 according to the Washington Post. THey should move your team to San Diego or St. Louis, where they might be appreciated by some soccer fans!

I didn't mean to totally blast you Bill; I just thought he was trying to be wry (somewhat poorly) and you got overly upset about it. I also don't know how wouldn't expect a guy that you recently called a moron not to take any offense. But anyway, I was over reactive in my comment; in retrospect, I can see that you were backed into a corner.

What's with deleting my message? You dump on Stephen Brunt who is probably the best football writer in North America but you don't have the stones to handle a reply?

Hey, I was just glad to find out I'm not the only person in the world who knows how funny the "Button-down mind" LPs were!

And I believe it was "Storm", not "Screen" Door...

Thanks -- I was biting my tongue, and very hesitant to post my "critique", but having that blog alongside the rest of them is an insult to you, Dan, and the English language. I want to extend my "critique", but every word I write sounds worse than the last.

You didn't know Fulham extended an offer to McBride? I'm sorry Bill, but that's quite laughable. Can i write for BS too? Anyway, otherwise, I do quite enjoy your sepp posts...

Thanks! but it's easy to chime in like the class wiseass when you feel like it. A Ballsac blog would be the BS equivalent of Payne Stewart's last flight.

You and Loney, on the other hand, are worth reading every time.

If you want to feature a wiseass, go for the guy who replied simply "I like the crest." Brevity, and perfect comic timing.

Bill, unless MLS has some heretofore unannounced method for breaking 4 way ties that differs from 3 way ties, I stick by my math.

With the full realization its largely irrelevant, aside from demonstrating MLS doesn't know beans (but we both knew that already).

      Hi Bill,
I'm an ancient football fan that lives in the U.S., hence I am usually even more frustrated by what I see/hear in the sports press, and written by soccer fans, here than in England and Spain (the two leagues I follow and languages in which I can read about football).
I just came across your last two blog entries and I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate them.
The one regarding John Terry might have quoted me. I do have HD and I can see him spit on Tevez, and my first question was the same as yours, with an entire football pitch at your disposal why would you have to slip through several people so as to lean on another player's neck in order to wipe your nose -- on the arm that's in his neck to be clear -- disgusting and inexcusable even if we didn't see the spit. A thug. Still furious.
Your current blog about MLS's DP's, the weekend's matches, and the annoying Steven Cohen also read my mind. I'm concerned that my house is bugged and you are hearing me ranting at my TV. Probably not, so just a thank you very much for your objectivity, knowledge of the game, and eloquence. In case you are tempted to mind the contradictory comments, I'm old enough to tell you that you're right and they're wrong. Not 106, but still...
