Which is quite possible, however, 1. he's not as good a finisher as RVN right now, and apparently the glaziers have told SAF to patch things up, 2. If RVN is sold, the kind words from ManU all tend to be focused on Rossi's future, I'd expect themn to bring in another striker for this season (all the usual rumors apply and 3. All I can think is that RVN must vidi sexual encounters with managers mothers and show them in the locker room, because the man flat out scores (the speed with which he fell out of favor, btw, totally destroys the anti-yank bias arguments tossed around on here. it's not about yanks, it's about everyone).

In the context of Rossi suiting up for the US, 4 years isn't relevant. He has to petition FIFA to switch before his 21st brithday.

He won't play for us, and I don't think that he'll play in any WCs. I think he'll wait too long, and by the time he realizes that Italy won't need him he's SOL. He's just in a bad situation and probably not a very smart one in terms of international careers.

He's got two years to make up his mind. That's lots of time.

    Micheal Owen is reported to be 5' 8", 150 lbs; Giuseppe Rossi = 5' 9", 155 lbs.

Closer to a year and a half, actually.

    He turns 21 on Feb. 1, 2008.

    I said 'almost' ;)

Owen is lightening-quick and has great anticipation in the box. Obviously, you can survive on that too. But strong dribbling does help overcome size 'deficiency'.

I show note that Owen is strong, compact for his height. Rossi appears a bit more lithe to me.

You'd think the next National Team coach will again aggressively ask next summer, when US National Team could be playing in 2 major tournaments.

Hard to imagine Rossi doesn't get a call.

Those stats for Rossi are very generous. I don't buy them at all.

I would bet that they added at least 2 inches there.

Yeah, if penis size was measured like the heights of soccer players I wouldn't get so much damn spam.

"In most cases the players involved in the World Cup have got a three-week holiday," he told MUTV.

"The ones who will be reporting on July 24 after the knock-out stages are Gary Neville, Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Gabriel Heinze, Edwin van der Sar and Ruud van Nistelrooy. Park Ji-Sung will be reporting back on July 18."

This article impacts both Yanks who are contracted to Man U. Ferguson is looking to bring in West Brom's Polsih keeper Kusczak as a nuber #2 behind Van dar Sar. It doesn't state if it would be a loan or actually contract. Also it mentions that Robson in exchange for Kuszczak would push for a Rossi or Kireon Richardson (former Baggies player) loan.

Re: Rossi at ManU until 2010 - Impact on His NT Choice?

Gary wrote, "should the Azzurri pass on him the 2010 Cup in South Africa, the U.S. could make an overture."

If he waits that long, he's stuck. He has ca. two years to make a decision, so I'd guess his data points for divining Italy's interest will be the Olympics and Euro 2008.

Not another Rossi for US thread. Going out on a limb, he'll try to play for Italy, as he has said. And, oh yeah, they just won the world cup. Next topic.

Re: Rossi at ManU until 2010 - Impact on His NT Choice?

I'd think the trend of only selecting Serie A players for the Azzuri will end if Italian players start moving to Spain, England, Germany if the Juve, Lazio, Milan and Fiorentina are relegated. I believe Rossi will get his chance if this occurs...

Re: Rossi at ManU until 2010 - Impact on His NT Choice?

You meant to say they cheated and dived their way to the title. Same thing, though, and it may not bother Rossi. I just hate Italian "soccer", and even more so after the last WC and the whole Serie A match-fixing fiasco. They give the sport a bad name, and make Jim Romes of the world right.

Sorry, it may not have been directly on the topic. We probably don't need this thread.

CJ, this is not at all to suggest that the thread shouldn't have been started...but please forgive me, I just can't resist

If Adu threads kill kittens, shouldn't Rossi threads kill something?

Too bad. Check the ages of Italy team this time. If all of them are still not too old, you cannot dump the World Cup Champions off the rosters. Tough to crack that team.

The important thing though is for them to play in Italy as they get into the Italian National Team. There are examples of players who are already established internationals who played in other leagues, but they got onto the national team while playing in Italy.

With Italy winning the World Cup, I can't imagine this will be a time they decide that their "home grown talent" scheme is faulty.
