Just a few unusal items my soccer crazed son loves. If you have any ideas please list them..I am at a loss this year

    1. Worldwide Soccer Manager 2006 - this is a PC game in which you are the soccer manager not the player. My power hungry son absolutely loves this game.

    2. The Greatest Footballer You Never Saw: The Robin Friday Story (Paperback)
    by Paul McGuigan, Paolo Hewitt

This is the true story of a soccer player on the path of self destruction it was written by a band member of Oasis. Kinda of a hard read but fascinated my 14 yo son.

    3. I am sure we are all buying from this site, but I was hoping to find some more unusual items to put under the tree

I give my little relatives a bean bag chair that looks like a big soccer ball he loves it. Kits are nice, keeper stuf even though he is not a keeper, even officials yellow and redcards with case. I told my brother if his son is bad show him the yellow if he is super bad the Red. Soccer balls, shinguards, small goals, etc

Pugg (www.pugg.com)makes little collapsable goals labeled with countries in appropriate colors. We have brazil, germany, england, france usa, italy. My kids love them. They play "World Cup" changing goals as they lose. Not too expensive. (@ $50) They come in a case with a mini ball too. A plus is you can pull them out for practice as well.

Tell me more about the book. I always like a good read, but there isn't much on it at Amazon.

BTW, one of the best books on soccer IMO is The Miracle of Castle di Sangro by Joe McGuiness. It too is a true story. Really funny, sometimes quite sad and an eye opening ending (or maybe not for the cynics out there). I wish someone would make this book into a movie!

How about "Star-Kick." And your child, like Conor, can be Nationally Ranked.

The Greatest Footballer You Never Saw: The Robin Friday Story-
www.amazon.com/uk has several reviews of the book, which talks a bit more of his history. It is amazing how drugs, attitude, and prision can leave you dead at the age of 36. I see in the States it is rather hard to find now. I bought it last year as a gift for my son. If anyone would like to borrow, shoot me a PM. I am going to look for the book you mentioned. Sounds like a great read for my son. Thanks

WC tickets would work for me. Airfare included would be a nice touch if you're feeling especially generous.

On a more serious note, how about a gift subscription to a magazine? Gift certificate to soccer store for gear that he can choose himself? Some sessions with a trainer, if he doesn't get that type of training already?

  12. do they make the fifa 06 for xbox or just xbox 360?

My 12 year old son just read a new novel called Keeper by Mal Peet. The writer is from England but the book is set in Amazon/Brazil. My son loved it.
