http://www.logansrevenge.blogspot.com/ Teams not mentioned yet. How's that for exciting! He does say that "a few" AEG teams will face "two" foriegn teams. LA's a safe bet. Metro as well, since they're absolutely massive. Who else gets to join the fun? Chicago or San Jose? And in other news, Thomas Rongen is back in charge of our future national teamers: the US U-20 squad. Hooray for recycling!
Probably but they don't use the main stadium, but the fields adjacent to the stadium. It would be cool if this turned into some sort of annual tournament, a few mls clubs, a few european clubs, while not the best competition in the world in such cases, it would be great for fans to see how the teams match up.
This is actually pretty huge. The article states that these friendlies will be played just after the first of the year. And it says a "few" AEG teams. As the other poster alluded, it will certainly be LA and and the Metros ....... and I'll throw in Chicago for good measure, as it said a "series" of games. It's great news because MLS camps don't usually start until the opening of January. Seeing that Libertadores starts in January (?) or early February, it is nice to see that some MLS teams are beginning to see the benefit of getting our boys out there for some games a bit earlier, if only to show the powers that be in South America that we are serious. Of course, I think a big part of this whole thing is that AEG wants to get the Galaxy ready by February, so they can compete well in the CCC. Honestly, the Revolution should be begging into this series of games themselves.
Propably tune ups for CCC for LA. The opposition would like by a Bundesliga team or another team that will be on break in january. Often they train through January abroad and HDC would be a pretty sweet play to take a winter training session for some of those bigger euro teams onn break. Likely an adidas team too like Bayern, Madrid, Milan...ect or even a smaller club from one of those leagues that take a break.
Yes, they are. But reportedly, their training doesn't begin until February. I am saying that the Revs would be well served to start a little bit earlier, by getting into this series of games ............. that is IF they have any notion of actually trying to be competitive and actually, yanno, WIN this tournament.
You won't see an Italian club, they're in the middle of the season at that point. They don't want to fly to LA to play some friendlies.
If my memory serves me correctly, aren't LA and DC supposed to headed to Hawaii to face some J-league teams? I thought that was pretty much a done deal after the success of the pre-season trip last year by those two MLS clubs? Anyone else recall this?
As I remember it... LA has a contract for the Aloha cup for 5 years, to play against a J-League team TDB. Last year the J-League team that was supposed to come, could not. So DC. United came to town instead. Last year in the rain it was still attended by 14,000k+ and raised over $80,000 for I think the local soccer leagues. At any rate this is what it says on the website. "The HSF, in partnership with the L.A. Galaxy, is planning to present the Aloha Soccer Cup annually featuring a match between the L.A. Galaxy and professional soccer teams from around the world. " Last year it was Febuary 26th. So, I hope they still come. Was nice to get to see at least one MLS match in person last year.
Bundesliga team you say eh? Hmm, Adidas supplied club huh? Hmmmmmm, how about Bayer 04 Leverkusen!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sweet
One of the friendlies has been confirmed. The LAG will be going up against South Korea's national team. Link
I'm not sure that this is one of the January friendlies though. It sounds like it will happen sometime in late spring. SK faces Russia and Denmark at the end of January in Saudi Arabia, and the article states that Los Angeles friendlies are the last stop before the WC.
If you look at the link it says... So from that I'll wager that the latest it will happen is February, if not in January.
