Well there were pictures of Security going up into the stands, so hopefully some of those Zonista twats got to snack on their own teeth.

Please tell me that either that was Panama, or those items were confiscated and the fans booted.

You are right. And the only people who have a chance to head off this waste of a bunch of talented kids...is us posters. The fat cats at the Federation will be quite happy to win one or two international games, not be beaten too badly, and have us respected. Heck with that. We have good kids. Let's kill people. We should all be yelping to the Federation.

well there are 32 teams at the WC and only 8 reach the last 8.So your guess is brilliant, even if you knew nothing except random odds.

Wow! Only in America can you get away with that Crap! If they tried that in any other soccer loving nation they would be done. I would love to be at a match and see someone trying to pull that Sh!t. Us Americans have become far to forgiving. Anyway.....

Is Keller our man for the world cup or will it be Howard? I am a huge fan of the EPL and have a hard time watching the US mens team, I just can belive that Keller can get it done against a quality team.

I'm tired of watching us scrape out late goals against tiny countries with sh1t defenses soley by virture of the sheer tenacity of our players stuck in a boring Arena system. Why wait until hindsight makes it clear that luck and minnows had much to do with Arena's success?

But he'll always have JK2002. His player selections at that tournament (sans Agoos) were beautiful. Maybe he'll turn the current situation into a diamond by next June, but I doubt it.

I agree we really sucked-REALLY SUCKED.But the problem is our player pool is not very deep.Really, who should he have called up who is not in Euro preseason?
Arena did not make Beaz and Donovan disappear yesterday. He did not make Conrad miss from 1 foot out.He did not make Dempsey miss from 3 yards. It is not always the coaches fault.

I guess they didn't get the memo...We are kicking al-qaeda @ss over there, Osoma does not intimidate the USA, he's like a fly buzzing around our Coca-Cola. Anybody got some bugspray?

The bottom two don't look like the Meadowlands, can't tell on the top one but they were all likely in Panama.

Right. We just won our Confederation Cup, not the World Cup.

Good stuff, thanks. That's much better than here in NC. Anyone else want to share what your newspaper/tv had to say about the USA's Concacaf victory?

Dude your 3 1/2 years too late with this rant. This was the battle cry leading up to the Portugal game in World Cup 2002 how quality footballers like Figo and co. were going to carve us up.

    But thanks for the memories.

I don't pay attention to ignorant posters like APZ007, either they just don't know, or they are just trolling about

I was in Raleigh, and was surprised that there was a pretty lengthy Gooch article in the Sunday paper before the game. Then I was at Top of the Hill (a pretty well-known restaraunt in Chapel Hill) and was shocked that they had the game on the tv. I ended up explaining what was going on to everybody around me. They had no idea what the tournament was and why they should care.

Unfortunately the Monday paper only had a little Blurb about the game, and how the PK shootout went.

No worries. If Ricardo continues with his current form he will get a look.

I know about soccer more than you do. Ive been around it all my life. Ive travelled everywhere in the world watching games and being around clubs and everything. When you see Brazil play, they dont play like the US and neither do any of the top ranked teams in the world. Im worried about the World Cup. If the US couldnt beat Mexico the last time they played, how do they expect to beat Germany or Brazil or Argentina. Winning the Gold Cup is nothing. We barely beat Panama in penalty kicks. The World Cup is what matters.

    teams have variations in performance....

and I'd be very interested in seeing some euro squad outside the top 6-8 in europe take on the panama squad last sunday in those weather condtions...

the austrias and slovenias of the world would be in for a surprise...

true panama is lax defensively, but they have a willingness to attack which would disturb those type teams....

projecting into germany based on gold cup is silly......there are a half dozen guys who'll be in germany who didn't play in gold cup....

still I say getting our of group play is the primary goal for usa, then take each match as it comes...I don't suspect usa to be favored in elimination phase matches, but they aren't automatic losers neither

For someone who claims to know so much about soccer, I'd expect you to know a little more about Mexico's record at the Azteca. Hint - they've only lost once in WCQ there, to Costa Rica in the qualifiers for 2002.
