Curious as to whether anyone has gone to one of their camps, sent child to camp, played/trained with or against any of AJAX Orlando youth teams. Feedback good, bad or otherwise. There was alot of discusson on Board when AJAX Orlando announced operation. Wanted to know of people's experience with group. Thanks

    Hey,
Yeah I actually play for the Ajax under 18 team. Not to brag or anything but we are pretty good. My coach was actually a coach in Amsterdam and is now our coach and he is a a great coach. We play in the super y league and are participating in the National Tournament in November. We have done very good so far. If you have any more questions ask me.

How long has your particular team been together and what tournament are you going to in November?
Could you tell me what you feel makes your team and coach a good one ie. training, try out selection...
I lived in Florida a few years ago, my son played for Blackwatch (which I hear is having trouble now), He now plays in Southern California for CSL in a premier team. There have been a couple of european clubs that have come our way saying they might open clubs here, thus I am interested in how they have helped your skills and playing technique. How are your teams doing in league play and what tournaments do you go to such as premier-Elite etc.
I was also wondering how much families pay to play in your club and what you get for that.
Thank you for any answers you could give us.

Well, my team has only been together since June because the league just started. The tournament we are going to is the Super Y league Nationals where all the best teams qualify to play in. Our coach is Dutch and has trained the actual Ajax squad. Our practices are very different from here in the way we stretch to the way we play. He emphasizes quick ball movement spreding the field with secific runs. He is very demanding and this has helped me develop. All the players are very talented and it has also elevated my game. 2 of them actualy are in their respective country's national team. We have gone to one tournament in Disney and actually advanced to the finals showcase. We have one 4 leaguge games and lost 1. We play in the Super Y league. The actual "tuition" since it is a soccer academy is about $1500 a year with everything included. We even get the official uniforms of Ajax Amsterdam and the exposure to college and pro teams. So it's a pretty good value. If you have any more questions just ask. Thanks

Do you all play HS as well as club, or are you committed to club only?
Do you live in the Orlando area?
Does the $1500 a year include everything? Or are travel expenses additional?
Is your definition of U18 the FIFA definition (calendar year) or the US definition (starts Aug 1)?
Are there guys on your team getting attention from college scouts?
Even though you formed late, is your team going to be playing year-round?

    Thanks in advance.

They do allow you to play highschool however I am not. And Yes I do live in the Orlando area and we train in downtown Orlando. The only thing not included in the $1500 is travel expenses such as food and hotel. And we are Fifa U18 meaning it is all of the players born in '86. Yes college scouts go to our tornaments especially the Nationals in November. Most are playing year round except if you play high school.

Reading this thread, while the young man has tried to give a good account of the program, I have to note some falsehoods:

    1. Ajax Orlando play in the Super Y League National Championship as automatic qualifiers because they are the host club. Not because they were good enough to be in it (although they might be). Look at www.superyleague.com for results

    2. Super Y, while growing each year, is the only national youth league in America but still does not have all the best teams and players playing in it.

    3. While the affiliation with Ajax does give them a valued appearance as a quality youth development program that brings in quality players, they must take this club a step further by training at Ajax in Amsterdam every year and playing the real academy teams to develop.

    4. The only Disney tournament that is considered national level is the Adidas College Showcase at Christmas. All others are just for the money and do not bring in the best competition.

Although they might be? Theres a loaded comment. Maybe they ARE good enough and just had a bad set of games or maybe the other team was dominant (they did win).

Thanks for posting volive19. Do you guys practice at Thunder Field in downtown Orlando?

I thought that the Y-league nationals already happened for the 86 and 85 age groups. They were in August in Chicago as I understood. So are you with the 87's maybe. They are the oldest age that is going to the nationals comming up.

Yes, I am sorry. I was not clear. I am playing with the 87's because I am still born in 1986. However I have been playing with the U-18 but I will be playing with the 87' or U-17

Ajax Orlando ran big ads in all the GA soccer media, and Soccer America too, last spring, promoting a camp at North GA College.

They didn't get enough kids to have the camp, and it was cancelled at the last minute.

I wonder if the other Ajax advertised camps came off? Anyone know?

Couldn't tell you. The Chicago-area camp was priced very high, considerably higher than competing camps. Between that and it being held on the other side of town from me, forget it.

I am told by several people that Ajax is serious about this but I gotta say, the $$ camp price and expensive Disney tournaments walk & quack like typical U.S. white-collar suburban soccer.

    Hello
Once you do their camp. If your child is a serious player you should check out www.tahuichi.com and view their video presentation. If your child likes what he sees then send him there he will not only come back a better player but a better person.

I realize this thread is a little old, but in case anyone is looking at summer camps for this year, I would like to say that my son had a great time at the Ajax camp in Santa Cruz in 2004. He is 11 years old and soccer mad so this was an ideal camp for him.

The main coach at his camp was Barry Hulshoff ex-Ajax and Dutch international. I was impressed.

It was expensive but then most residential camps are. I think they have lowered prices for this year.
