am i wrong to think that the coordinated treatment approach between fcd and us soccer re: pomykal is a promising sign?

I'd be shocked if he and Servania are not available for Olympic qualifying.

It's fine if we do. We have Damian Las, Chiruru Odunze, Gabe Slonina, Jeff Dewsnup and more. The 2002 and 2004 GK depth is ridiculous. For the 2004's Emmings is probably the third string GK.

He’s not good enough to get into the US set-up, IMO.

Chris Brady is also better, as could another 3-4 keepers. I prefer him to Slonina among the two Chicago keepers.

    Yeah, I was joking.

I am happy to admit I know next-to-nothing about the player pool of 2004 goalkeepers.

I'm really curious to see what happens with Ocampo-Chavez this season. Seattle hasn't gone out and back-filled at forward this off-season.

Is he 3rd string after Ruidaz and Morris? And won't those two be gone a lot on international duty? The only other forward competition is broken down Will Bruin and depth player Justin Dhillon.

So I'm cautiously optimistic regarding playing time for OC.
Of course, Seattle could go out and sign somebody tomorrow and dash my hopes.

AOC will probably get around 1000 minutes this season and Danny Leyva will as well. Seattle is very keen on giving their youth a shot and the lack of new additions emphasizes this. They've said in multiple interviews that those two as well as maybe a couple others will get good sounders mintues this year

I don't think it's anything new. Lucci discussed talking with Berhalter last year about FCD players and the differences in how they train and play. Sounded more similar than not but not identical. 3rd Degree had a practice report yesterday that said Pomykal was doing some things but running on the side during others. Mostly scar tissue pain to fight through it sounded like.

When we talk about the challenges for young domestic players in the United States, this is now a big one. A green card process that used to take 5+ years for foreign players is now taking months. So basically any MLS club with good lawyers can sign as many foreign players as they want.

Beckham has been adamant on how they want to produce homegrown talent but for clubs not like his, FC Dallas, RSL, SKC, and Philly it is very concerning.

Does anyone have any real thoughts about Brooks Lennon at ATL? I’m interested in what he can do for Josef, but I’m not sure he’s a rwb that will end up starting caliber for them. This year will either be huge or awful for him.

Portland signed Blake Bodily (1998, midfielder) to a home grown contract.

Phillip Ejimadu (1999, goalkeeper) is in camp with LAFC. His loan with LAFC from his Brazilian club expired at the end of last season so he is presumably a trialist at the moment.

h/t @ChuckMe92 in the Yanks Abroad Academy forum.

Buzz Carrick's practice observation from Tuesday:

North Texas SC players Brecc Evans (1999 defender), Arturo Rodriguez (1998 midfielder), Imanol Almaguer (2000 midfielder), and Carlos Avilez (1999 goalkeeper) are in camp with the first team.

There are first impressions of the draft picks in the report. Aiden Megally, FCD’s last pick, 92nd overall was not present.

This article has a full list of LAFC academy players that had been training for two weeks with the first team in preseason and discusses their time with the first team. They have recently been sent back to the academy.

The players were: Armando Avila (2004 defender), Erik Dueñas (2004 field player), Diego Rosales (2005 field player), Mauricio Gutierrez (2003 forward), Tony Leone (2004 defender), and Christian Torres (2004 forward).

LAFC signed 18-year-old midfielder Bryce Duke (2001 midfielder) to a Homegrown Player contract. LAFC initially acquired Duke’s Homegrown rights from Real Salt Lake in exchange for $50,000 in 2021 General Allocation Money (GAM).

Anyone know what kind of a midfielder Duke is?
