Reading what some of the Spurs fans have to say Lo Celso apparently had his best game of the season and was dominating the match. Good to see. Gazzaniga has been dropped since Lloris is back.

“Giovani Lo Celso's performance was described as 'phenomenal' by Jose Mourinho after our 2-1 win against Norwich City in the Premier League on Wednesday night.“

    Heres’s his highlights:

Solid win against Chile in second match of Olympic qualifier.

4 different goalscorers so far and the passing upfront looks good , so does the finishing. Chile actually looked good in previous 2 games and havent conceided any before this game.

Good to see the u23 doing so well. If we do qualify we have an excellent chance at the Olympics.

Pereyra is off form and probably should be out of any contention for the Copa. Pussetto has signed for us. Saved a certain goal the other week and hopefully will get a chance to recover his form.

Lo Celso should never be questioned. The archetypal modern midfielder who can do everything. Class personified. Asascibar and Palacios will hit the ground running in the Bundesliga with Hertha and Leverkusen are the other components of a fluid hard working skilled midfield.

I still do not like the idea of Paredes at the base of the midfield. We need a destroyer in there and I cannot see beyond Santi.

Balerdi still with a lack of minutes which is disappointing. Foyth too. After reflection right back is not for him. He would be best served as a defensive midfielder moving into the centreback role. I fear his career is stagnating at Tottenham with Moaninho in charge. And Gazzaniga still makes positional errors.

Best to leave it to Musso and Benitez. Montiel is in demand. And the offers are ludicrously low. Gallardo is right in making a stand about the transfer fees. Montiel still has plenty to learn about his role but with Saravia not featuring for Porto he will be vital this summer.

Defence and goalkeeping will be vital as for me the new midfield and striking options are settled. Otamendi should not be anywhere near the seleccion now. An accident waiting to happen once again. Tagliafico plus Pezzella and two others. Quarta needs to be bled in as Romero is a bit up and down at the moment as well. Lisandro Martinez as a utility player is also a thorny issue. Jack of all trades and master of none. Such players are a rarity. Still unsure whether he will be best served by playing as a DM, WB or CB. Bags of talent of course and should be in the Copa squad without question and Olympics too.

I’m just hoping for some continuity with the Sub teams. We had this 20 years, which helped not only the players but gave the seleccion an identity. I haven’t watched these games since they’re not show here in the States and I haven’t had the time to stream them live. But from the Sub 17 to the 20s, they’ve done a good job in a short period of time. I hope this continues over the years. We’ve had the talent, our talent will never fade away but the identity of a team was clearly missing.

Right back is the biggest weakness Argentina have right now.

There is a good selection of centrebacks (Pezzella, Lisandro Martinez, Martinez Quarta, Romero, Nehuen Perez). As for left back, Tagliafico is quality and Acuna is a good backup option.

But right back? Foyth and Saravia have both been frozen out of their teams and hardly ever play. Montiel is the only viable option, it seems.

I genuinely had no idea that Ascacibar had signed for Hertha Berlin.

Good to see him in the Bundesliga again. He’s far too talented to be wasted in the second division.

I hope this move means that he can get more opportunities for the NT.

I'd honestly play a back 4 of Montiel---Pezzella---Quarta---Tagliafico with Armani as GK. Montiel, Quarta and Armani already have team chemistry and there's not much time left for the March WCQ and Copa America.

Lautaro scored again but did something stupid and got sent off. I know he's always been a bit of a hothead but hopefully this will give him a lesson.

Just over a year since the death of Emiliano Sala. Nantes provided this lovely tribute. I feel terribly for the mother, sister and brother. His father passed away last year no doubt due to the stress and heartache.

The death of Kobe Bryant also brought back memories of that. So sad in both cases. :(

The u23 won their 3 consecutive game, beating Ecuador. Allister scored again, assisted by Gaich. The kid has big potential... looks like a great goalscoring CM.

I was actually thinking about Sala when the news of Kobe broke. I have my qualms about flying in such forms of transportation. It is so sad that they both passed on in similar ways.

The news here in Los Angeles about Kobe is all over the place. My friends and cousins who are avid laker fans are in shock, as if a friend they’ve grown up has left them. I was never a fan of the Lakers, I grew up rooting for MJ and the Bulls back home but deep down I knew how good Kobe was when I moved to the States, and I would never admit it just to annoy my friends and my cousins who grew up in LA as Laker and Kobe fans.

Kobe himself was a big futbol fan. A story from 2008 Olympics was Messi was at the players village about to eat and Kobe sat down next to him and spoke to him telling him how he admires him and how he’s gonna be an all-time great. After Kobe left, Messi look over to his friend and said (who dat?!). I’m kidding of course, that’s my levity in this matter, Messi was thankful for Kobe’s kind words and if I’m not mistaken Kobe even attended a couple games during the Olympics where we won. A great ambassador to the game of basketball and he always spread the love for futbol. He’ll be missed, no doubt.:(

    Here is the story.

Oh, I’m still gonna root against the Lakers. Don’t get it twisted.:D

Lautaro had some selfish moments in the game but I guess that’s expected from a player of his ability, he has that freedom to be selfish. I just hope that we don’t revert back to pass to Messi and get the hell out of the way...

I’ve noticed both Dybala and Lautaro can have sour puss on their face or throw their hands in the air when a ball is not played to them at club level but with the seleccion they are a bit more disciplined and don’t react. I believe that has to do with them knowing their role and where they stand in line.

Yea, in Copa he actually argueing alot with the ref and and there were moments where he seems to lost it and almost get into a fight against Brazil but his teammates were able to calm him down. I like his fierce attitude but obviously there's a line he shouldnt cross.

Great story that just highlights what an incredible guy he was. His passion left a mark on everyone he came across and that's probably his biggest legacy.

Hope the kids don’t get too cocky into the second phase of the tournament, which is the important one. Remember, it is only the top 2 sides that go to the Olympics.

Yea, its still a tough road ahead but I have to say this team surprisingly confident and consistent compare to the youth side in last many years. This team was down 0-1 twice and still won those games. Its pretty interesting that they had 7 different goalscorers out of 8 goals they scored.

Agreed. It’s not gonna be easy, we don’t know who will be our opening match yet, it can be anybody from group B, besides Brasil who we will play last. Our second game will again be Colombia, they are the home side and beating the same team twice is never easy. So, we need to win our opening match.

True, and group B standing is quite interesting. Uruguay currently 2th but has played 4 games so all 3 teams behind them could still qualify since they all have 3 points each.

Also, Chile finished the qualifier with their favorite scoreline 0-0, just like they did in those 2 copa finals, except this time they got eliminated instead.:D

Alexis MacAllister, the young midfielder starting for our U23 team in the Pre-Olympic tournament, will play the rest of the season in the Premier League after acquiring his work permit.

Although they had bought him last year, Brighton first loaned him out to Argentinos Jrs and then to Boca since he was ineligible to play for them.

The good news is that we should expect him to get regular playing time: initially his loan with Boca ran til June 2020, but the English side paid a €1,000,000 fee to terminate the deal early, which should mean they are expecting to count on him rather than just have him as an extra squd player.

The Seagulls are currently in 15th place, 2 points above the relegation zone. Alexis will be sharing lockerrooms with fellow Argentine rightback Ezequiel Schelotto.

How many games is Palacios suspended for? He's missed his first 2 games with Leverkusen.
