He won't pick Dier or Linguard. He might pick thingy (Delph). He'd be mad not to pick Grealish or Maddison. But Mounts form is falling off a cliff.

Harvey Barnes is a dynamic runner but he doesn't get his head up enough and his final ball is very erratic. I don't think he's ready to be part of an England squad, not unless the injury situation gets worse anyway.

I'm not convinced on Barnes yet. He's 22 so still has time to improve but I'd put him in the same bracket as Redmond currently, in that in leaner times he'd be in the squad but we have better options now.

In other news, Henderson is in the form of his life currently

I really hope not Dier is no longer the same player he was and Lingard is terrible. Grealish and Maddison have been fantastic this season surely there's no more they can do

With a 23 man squad surely you can take some risks on players that have an X factor. Lingard just isn't capable of some of the things Hudson Odoi is

I don't trust Hudson-Odoi yet. The amount of times he loses the ball in the middle third is a big worry. I saw Barkley, of all people, going absolutely mental at him in the Arsenal game for a stupid flick that conceded possession on the half way line. Last time he played for England he passed square balls to the opposition about three or four times.

I believe gomez is one of the top defenders in the world right now. I have always said hes a better defender than de ligt. He should be one of the first names on the team sheet

I do think it would be interesting to see what Southgate would do if Everton replaced Pickford or demoted him to 2nd choice. I think he's safe for the summer but if he becomes marginalised and Henderson continues his direction of travel then you'd think that at the very least Southgate will have a major headache. I know Pickford has never let England down, but if he was to start turning up rusty due to a lack of game time then it would be difficult to see him continuing his reliable form in an England shirt.

It'll be interesting to see how much Lampard actually wants to use him, because if nothing else Lampard demands a lot of running from his players, and I believe RLC has had issues with his stamina.

To be fair I forgot about Calvert-Lewin and Ings when I brought up Greenwood... Good to see RLC fit again.

I hope Southgate gets on the phone to Rashford and Kane to advise them to carefully manage their returns. I know it's a difficult task given they are important to their clubs and are wholehearted, driven professionals. However, I fear they could both do themselves long-term damage if they fail to manager their workloads properly, particularly Kane.

Did anyone watch the WHOLE game last yesterday ??

I forced myself to watch the first 20 minutes and Barkley hadn’t even touched the ball .. Mount wasn’t much better ..

    Injury updates:

    - Lampard says Abraham "hasn't fractured anything." Doesn't appear he'll be out too long thankfully.

    - Rashford says himself he'll "be back before the season ends to hopefully help my team claim top four." Not a clear timeline, but since he said he'll be back before the season ends then that's positive.

    - Kane will undergo surgery on his hamsting. Expected to be fit enough to restart training in April. Sounds like if he takes the proper precautions he'll be fully fit for Euro 2020, but match fitness is definitely going to be a doubt. I hope this means Mourinho will buy a striker while the transfer window is still open, but I have my doubts on that.

Somewhat optimistic news overall I'd say.

Definitely. He was fantastic tonight. We need to tie him before Nigeria come sniffing.
