It's strange because I saw two reports after that match: One which praised him like you say, and one which said that he was lousy. I, of course, supports the second version since I watched the match. Luckily I'm not River's fan, otherwise I would break the TV. He was Horrible. And again, I really don't see anything special about him. Yes he is young, maybe he'll get himself eventually and the good news for him is that Gallardo gives him confidence, but I personally don't think he'll be any good in the future.
To be honest, I really need to change the TV, it's old. Still no excuse for Carrascal horrendous game (kidding, not horrendous but horible yes) so we'll disagree on this one. The fact that I saw many opinions like mine makes me relax that the TV maybe old but my eyes still functioning [emoji57]
Than a lot of River fans have low expectations I guess. Just to be clear: he's a Colombian, I wish he'll do well, I just don't think he's good enough overall.
I wouldn’t say he was horrible but his execution and decision making left a lot to be desired. I’m not going to be harsh on him because he came from a weak league where he was a standout talent and isn’t used to the competition yet. I won’t judge him until I’ve seen him in a good run of games and see how much he improves. I’m confident Gallardo can get something out of this kid if it worked on Quintero.
Starting along with a lot of the subs today. Gallardo obviously had a talking to him after his sub appearance in Libertadores, where he lost every ball he touched for 5 minutes. Much more disciplined today. Perhaps too disciplined though. He's lost a couple balls just for taking too long to make a decision, but his form picked up toward the end of the first half. The game has been ugly. Hopefully he gets a full 90'.
Carrascal just put River up 1-0 vs. Gimnasia with a clean finish Good news for him considering the Libertadores Superclasico is in three days. De La Cruz is in doubt for that match (he has missed the last few games due to injury), Quintero is just barely returning to training, and Pratto is injured, so Carrascal actually has a golden opportunity to sneak his way into the game if he impresses today
Scocco set him up so beautifully on a silver platter. Then Carrascal did show nice composure to score. Plays like that are a joy for me to watch.
Carrascal made a beatiful play and assist to julian alvarez that was bad called by referee as offside
Goal 200 of colombians What would be the foreign team with more colombian goals? Porto? Pachuca? Rivee should be on top 3 El de Carrascal fue el gol 200 de 🇨🇴 en #River[62] @JUANPABLOANGEL [45] @FALCAO [28] Teo Gutiérrez[26] @RafaelBorre_ [11] @juanferquinte10 [9] Mario Yepes[8] Carlos Carbonero[5] Jairo Patiño[3] Eder Álvarez Balanta[2] Jorge Carrascal[1] Juan Toja pic.twitter.com/938ShWY9m6— Damian Eiberman (@Dami_Eiber) September 28, 2019
Porto Falcao Jackson James Guarin Diaz River should be 2nd Then there is Monaco pachuca, america, and soon atalanta
Falcao, James, and Jackson together scored 195. Damn impressive. Diaz has 2, Guarin had 19, and Juanfer had 7. I can't remember if Wason ever scored in cups. He never had anything in Liga.
Monterrey is other that have more than 130...with dorlan, aviles, cardona. atalanta is still behind....they have like 35 in total....there is still enough for at least the 100.
Why is Pachuca in the conversation? Chitiva's the only guy I remember scoring there before Cardona switched... Am I forgetting someone?
Luis Gabriel Rey and aquivaldo scored there......from what i remember they always have colombians...but maybe you have reason
Shanghai Shenhua, over 90 (rough count) with GioMo and Guarin. I think just below Monaco on the list.
Carrascal is really building a knack for scoring golazos in the Pre-Olympic tournament... hopefully this is the year he's able to fully take off for River's first team.
Developing into an exciting player. I am just wondering if he can be implemented into the Senior team with a proper role. Right now he is playing right behind the #9 with a free roaming role. Not sure were Queiroz will put him (or even if Queiroz is interested in calling him up anytime soon.).
He's an exciting prospect but I think he's a ways away from the Senior side. He has to get consistent and perform at club level and on top of that I don't think he's ideal for the CQ system, guys like Diaz, or even Cucho when healthy just a way better fit, defends and plays wide and then you have guys like James and Quintero with if you're going to fit in guys who don't defend and don't fit the system perfectly its going to be those two imo. He's got time, but he needs to develop more and I'd be surprised to see him with the senior side within the next couple years.
Yes, he'll have to get consistent for club before he becomes a regular for the NT. Once Quintero returned, Carrascal's minutes dried up at River. His main competition now is de la Cruz, who's similarly gotten much better over the years. He had a similar role when he was in Ukraine. Typically, he's always offset to the left, but he naturally wants to cut in and drift toward the center. It's taken time for Reyes to allow this to happen, and it's really only possible now because Benedetti, Cetre, and Marquez have the intelligence to fill in abandoned space. You're both overlooking how he's played for River. When he's started big matches, with the rest of the first team, Gallardo has put Carrascal as a strict left winger. With that responsibility, he actually puts in decent defensive work, even though his stamina isn't the best. So, Quieroz' system won't be foreign for him. He could easily step in where Roger/Diaz are. Of course, like Homie said, I do think he operates best when given some freedom. We've seen Quieroz allow James to do that when he's healthy, although from the right side of the field. We have NO idea how he'll utilize Quintero, who also thrives with freedom. If Pekerman--a guy who catered to his creative players/scorers--was still coach, I think we'd see Carrascal on the roster in March. Until then, he's competing for left wing with Roger and Diaz, who are definites. But Mendoza and Sinisterra have also gotten shots there, and they both profile as guys Quieroz prefers. Oddly, Benedetti, the kid I see as the more central player, in the vain of James and Quintero, might be catching Quieroz' eye more at this point. He's been very disciplined on the wing, sticking to the right touchline and whipping in lots of good crosses.
We are thinking on the same wavelength when it comes to all of this. I was thinking he can be used on the left or as a James type of player but as I said I am not sure if he is even on CQ radar. Even if he does get more playing time as Villus suggests. You know how I feel about Benedetti. As I mentioned in the Sub23 thread weeks ago, I think he has a chance of being called up in March if he has a really good Olympic Qualifying and so far so good on that one. We need creative players and right wingers to emerge and he seems to be both for Reyes. I hope he continues to get better and resolves his club situation.
