What's the fuss about Bellingham? https://www.skysports.com/football/...-united-target-and-birminghams-teenage-talent Have nothing inherently against signing him but my question is why are we focused on this now? We only have limited time as it is in this window and we've got more pressing issues which need to be addressed immediately. Bellingham is not ready to join or help us now and will probably remain with his current club for a long time if we were to get him. We could leave this for the summer and instead spend the rest of the time available to us this window (9 days) on closing in on Fernandes and the striker we need, to help secure CL football for next season (via the league or the EL).
It's the new plan from Ed. Fill up the team with young English championship players. That way he can save money, say he is making new signings and also young players.[emoji57]
Started the window with no depth and lack of quality and a clear need to reinforce at CM right now. It has only gotten worse since Rash injury. Crazy that some fans still eat up the whole "get younger, change the culture" bullshit. Its basically just a fancy way of saying the Glazers arent giving us any money to spend on legit players and if they were, Uncle Ed just shits the bed anyway. No reason why Piatek or Jovic deals couldnt be wrapped up quickly as loan option to buys. No reason we are haggling 10 mil with Sporting. But I guess I should stop using logic when thinking about this club. Anyway, carry on. Nothing to see here.
the radio silence says it all. that and £30m bids elsewhere probably indicate we've walked away. or if we're trying to be clever and get both it's looking increasingly likely we'll end up with neither
Stone just spoke up. Says it’s at a standstill. We won’t increase offer and Sporting won’t lower. Another deal we’re going to ******** up over 10 mil.
Sporting are seriously considering keeping Bruno Fernandes until the end of the season, allowing other clubs to make a move and sell him for more #mulive [duncan castles, @TransferPodcast]— utdreport (@utdreport) January 22, 2020 Sporting looking like they've had enough: can't say that I blame them. They really haven't been unreasonable and if we miss out on Fernandes, as it's looking atm, it's all on United and Woodward/Judge...
That’s pretty much Woodward negotiating 101. Lowball, then try to play hardball and haggle unsuccessfully, then eventually cave and pass original asking price.
Blah, blah, blah... In all seriousness, Fernandes causing a stink and really agitating for a move just might be our only hope at this stage.
I wouldnt be surprised to see Bruno deal get done now quickly with us paying what Sporting wants. Woody will have noticed the unrest at OT and paying an extra 10 mil to bring in Bruno is an easy way to deflect and take the heat off him until summer. And sadly, hes probably right. The average fan will take the bait and he'll have bought himself some time.
lol you guys still think these people care after all these years. when players were borderline attacked last year it made no difference. protests and actual attempts to buy shares made no difference (in the beginning). if Solskjær goes based on results OK. it wouldn't be unreasonable. it would probably be best before his stature as a legend falls any further with the salty fans. but don't fool yourselves into thinking Pochettino or whoever else will get adequate backing or time to resurrect the club. we will simply set up another to fail and rinse and repeat
You keep insisting with this defense that Poch wouldn’t do any better. You’re missing the point of those saying Ole should go. Or I guess I should only speak for myself in that regard. I don’t want Poch because I think he can do better with this current squad. I think Poch is a better manager that can eventually build us a good team IF given proper money and time. Now maybe that’s true for Ole as well, but he’s unproven and nothing he’s done so far has shown that he can. That said, I don’t think anyone blames our current position on Ole being a bad manager. Everyone knows who the real problem is and I don’t think anyone out there thinks we have a talented squad.
problems extend waaay beyond OGS. we need a manager adept at managing low level shitpiles that punch above their weight in the odd season.
I don’t really see anyone thinking that to be honest. Might as well let Ole keep clearing the deadwood and then build the squad back up to give to a legit manager. If we hire Poch now, we’ll have to fire him in 18 months because he would be able to do anything with this shit stain of a squad either.
If Poch came in, we'd at least have a good manager that if we actually properly started a rebuild could do it. Ole is not the manager.
there are several fans who want Pochettino in ASAP and like you said it is setting yet another one up for failure. if they're expecting different then... fine. whatever. get him in and see how he does
@Amdrag What have you seen from Ed in the last 7 years that indicates to you that he’s actually support Poch? He’s failed miserably.
Poch working with the players we will keep, even if it is 4 or 5, would do us worlds more good then having Ole do it. Look how awful and depressed everyone looks. Do you honestly think Poch is not a better manager then Ole? Really?
My prayer is that Ole is there to take the brunt of this situation, so that Poch can start fresh. We did spend a lot of money before. It happened. It just wasn't worth it, because we spent it poorly. We don't have as much anymore, but probably more then enough to get into the top 4, especially with a proper manager.
He already is taking the brunt of the situation. Today is the perfect example of Ed’s failure to reinforce the squad with midfielders and forwards. I don’t think anyone is saying that Poch is not the better manager but for me personally it’s too early to bring Poch or anyone of his ilk in. Doing the same thing over and over (firing the manager) and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.
