Youth Yanks Abroad, ‘01-‘04 YOBs (and younger): 2019/20 Thread

Vassilev is pretty locked into playing for the USA that we don't need to worry about him. Gio should not even be considered a dual national. Michael Jackson has a better chance of coming back to life than Gio does representing another country.

 

Vassilev came on for 14 minutes plus stoppage for Villa today. Had 7 touches and 2/4 on passing. From what I am hearing he brought some much needed energy for Villa but needs to clean up his touches.

It is great that he is getting minutes, now we need to see him get them consistently and see that he is able to keep the ball under pressure and combine with teammates in the middle and final third (the is this kid legit test that Gio is currently passing minus the minutes). Vassilev is looking like he is writing his name in pen in the u20 roster and banging on the door of the 23's b-team.

 

So are we all just ignore that Aston Villa's coach is named Dean Smith?

 

Has anyone seen Bright play? He might not be any good, but I do find it curious that there's a player playing in a big academy in Europe who still has never gotten called into a YNT before.

They can term it training, but those are trials.

He’s still only 17 until February 5, so depending on the rules in Denmark, he’s either eligible next week or he’s eligible once the summer transfer window opens.

He looked like a passable talent when I saw him play for the U-17’s. Playing LB doesn’t hurt either. I wouldn’t consider him a premier name, but he has a chance to make it. Brondby seems like a good place to start his pro career.

 

I usually wouldn’t make much over goals in a preseason youth game, but this is a tremendous goal.

Probably not. PSV has let american teens train with them before and then not signed them. Sealy is currently under contract at Dallas

 

It was implied when Dallas signed Sealy that they would work with him to move him abroad once he turns 18, which is next April.

I’m sure he impressed some scouts that watched the Nike Friendlies.

Hoppe starts the second half of the season with a goal. He'll need a big second half of the season to get a first team contract, IMO.

Gomez is leaving the FCD academy. I like that he left but I don't like the timing - I can't think of a reason to leave unless he's moving to a Liga MX team since he's not 18 til 9/1/2021.

 

FCD is probably not going to let him play if he doesn't sign his career away to them. I would guess he signs with a USL team or just does what Sargent did. I do think Sargent would be farther along if MLS didn't make him waste 9 months.
