EXCLUSIVE: Mason Holgate in line for first England call-up after impressing with Everton |@DiscoMirror https://t.co/gFrwayvbzZ pic.twitter.com/dUMqHRYjyp— Mirror Football (@MirrorFootball) January 20, 2020
I think in Owens case at the time they didn't like to operate on hamstrings and when it healed it attached to the wrong place. He talks about it in this video at 8.30.
Rashford shouldn't be out too long to the point where he can come back and regain decent match fitness as long as United don't rush him back.
Positive news regarding Kane's injury: https://tbrfootball.com/spurs-handed-massive-injury-boost-when-it-comes-to-harry-kane/
Yes, I think England should not field players over 20, let's give a cap everyone who had a decent game.
Assuming Kane won't be fit for the Euros, this is who I would pick: GK: Pickford RB: Alexander-Arnold CB: Gomez CB: Maguire LB: Chilwell CDM: Winks CM: Henderson CM: Grealish LW: Sterling ST: Abraham RW: Rashford RLC, Foden, and Sancho off the bench. I know most people would swap in Rashford for Kane, but I really like what Abraham brings and produces when he gets enough service. On the same token, Rashford has done very well for England on the wing.
I at least hope Greenwood will get a call up in March given Kane and Rashford won't be available by then. I think he's done enough to deserve that and has plenty of time to keep going.
Sorry but even if he's not quite fired on all cylinders for England yet, there's no way Abraham should get in the side but Sancho not. Irrespective of positions. I think it's much more worrying with Rashford than many think going by the reports of former players like RVP and O'hara who have actually had this injury. Obviously it would be a dream if he and Kane were both fit and sharp for the summer, but sadly it looks like a pipe dream now. Ultimately we need to both expect and prepare for the worst. I also think RLC is very unlikely at this stage and surely Maddison would be a better bet than him or Foden given his form and consistency over the last 18 months. I agree with the back four though. I'd also try and integrate Oxlade Chamberlain as if he's fit his goalthreat could be useful in helping compensate for the loss of Kane and Rashford.
Maddison is the other option off the bench I'd go with. Who knows though maybe Dele could get back into contention as well with Oxlade-Chamberlain and I wouldn't even rule out Mount. Definitely much better options we've had in a long time.
Just a bit more on the Rashford injury and if it’s true, it’s terrible from Ole and Utds medical team. Rashford’s back was giving him such pain in the days before the Wolves game that he was struggling to sit down during a filmed interview with Ryan Giggs at Hotel Football and instead had to stand for the majority of it #mufc https://t.co/CrZmzRbvaH— James Ducker (@TelegraphDucker) January 20, 2020
No Kane or rashford in a worse case scenario ..........Tammy Sancho........sterling ......Maddison...Henderson ............winks Chillwell..tomori..Gomez..taa ..............pope I don’t rate Pickford or Maguire
don't think Dele deserves to be called up. He probably will though. I'm praying that at least one of Kane or Rashford can come back in time
It's a bit out there but say they dont make it, why not try a front three of sterling sancho and grealish or odoi. They could interchange, a bit like what griezmann and mbappe do for France Other point is if they are both back but only 60% fit who would u take the risk on knowing that taking both would be a big risk. For me kane as he is our only out and out striker
I'd take the risk for Kane. The difference with Rooney is that he had to carry England's attack on his own in 2006, while Kane with England has Sancho/Sterling and if Southgate sees the light Grealish in the middle. He's here to be the focal point and finish.
Well if it was a choice then Kane all day since he's the best striker in world football Sancho is just as good as Rashford at LW.
We most likely won't win it all, but I don't think we're screwed. We would still have a decent chance of qualifying for the knockout stages and actually would get a better chance at prolonging our tournament if we get second place in our group.
What exactly has he done? Scored against the mighty Norwich and Newcastle? He is surely talented, but still not a starter for a mediocre team like Man Utd nowadays. Since 2014 every tournament has been about "this is a young team, don't have much expectations etc.". If we really want Southgate to call up every teenager who featured in the Premier League, England would always remain just a promise, nothing else. This forum is getting way over the top.
