Well, the fat lady sung last night. And we STILL couldn't score a goal.

Is it a team bereft of talent or does Vidmar have something to answer for?

The no goals suggests the former. Even a poorly coached team with some talent should manage a goal after 450 minutes

    yeah, no excuses here.

He persisted with planks like Hoffman, when Babalj and Ibini were strong candidates. Guys like Halloran, Brillante, Rogic deserved a run, but he stuck with what didn't work.

I agree with that. FFA have only themselves to blame for not going back in time to kidnap young Marcos Flores, naturalise him and then bring him forward to the present day.

I'm a bit baffled by this campaign as I'm sure all you guys are. I wouldn't blame Aurelio Vidmar just cause he had everything against him here with the limit of 3 players per club deal.
Overseas players shouldn't be used as an excuse as there are other teams in Asia who have been without europe based players and are still on the right course with their domestic-based teams. And a youth NT you'd hope would reflect on the quality of the youth development system, so that should be reflected based on who's been around in Australia to develop.

Maybe it was a mentality thing cause they had an alright number of chances. They conceded 3 goals in 5 games 2 of which away in snow, that's a decent effort for any defence.

Only a fool would be using oversea's based players as an excuse. But can you do us a favour? Stop trying to appear to be diplomatic when it's quite obvious that you're more than happy that Australia, through Asia, haven't qualified for something.

Only three goals conceded though. Maybe this squad can supply some future Socceroo defenders. If they supply some strikers, we may be in trouble.

Congratulations to the current group for qualifying. Positions in the final squad will be at a premium with no guarantees for most of this squad. We have a squad of 23 in this championship, in the Olympics its cut to 18. We have 4 players suspended from this tournament who will be available for selection, 3 overage players that we can use, and also some under 23 players who weren't made available for this tournament as they weren't released by their clubs. Arnold rotated the players quite a bit in this tournament so many players who featured may not get an Olympic spot. I'm not overly keen on the idea of sending the bulk of the squad to the Copa America. If the players are good enough to make the senior squad in their own right then that's fine. If they aren't, then they should just concentrate on the Olympics until they are or just wait for a friendly.

Only four countries will be represented in both men's and women's soccer at 2021 Olympics: host Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Brazil.
