When it gets to the last 5 minutes, I find that unless you snort the crushed pills, it takes too long for them to have an effect. There have been a few occasions when I didn’t do that and I died. All the way. Died.
David Ngog scores at Anfield to make it 2-0 against Manchester United. Pepe Reina the first man down the pitch to celebrate. Happy 27th birthday to ex-red, David Ngog! He played 94 games for LFC & scored 19 goals! Who remembers this goal? pic.twitter.com/9Pam6M5pjT— LiverpoolGoals (@Liverpoolgoals_) April 1, 2016
This team doesn’t do things the easy way, does it? This coulda and oughta been done and dusted by halftime. Bloody hell. But I’ll take the three points and a clean sheet, tee hee hee.
Don’t know if stats can really tell you anything, but I did find something rather interesting on the internets. Doesn’t mean a whole lot, but at halftime of our last 6 games: 1-0 vs Watford 1-0 vs Leicester 1-0 vs Wolves 1-0 vs Sheffield 1-0 vs Spurs 1-0 vs Man United
We know Alisson is the best goalkeeper in the world. We know Virg is the best defender. We know we have the best fullbacks and the best front 3. Fabinho has even been called the best defensive midfielder in the world. The two best players on the pitch today are the unsung heroes in the team. Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum were brilliant. There are no players in Europe that put in more work or are tactically smarter. Their quality on the ball is exceptional as well. They are perfect examples of what it means to be a mentality monster. They are winners and big game players. They are going to lift more trophies this season.
How this didnt end 15 - 0,I have no idea but our profligacy almost almost bit us in the backside. What A Team and Gini clear MOTM. YNWA.
How many times did De Gea come into contact with the ref? Remind me again - VAR was supposed to give us all the goals?
Man U are always going to be up for LFC...this was the biggest game of their season... Some ‘interesting’ calls and non-calls...but once again, Klopp’s boys did enough, on both ends of the field to get the three points... Next?...
Where are all the LiVARpool dickheads now? Should've been done and dusted by the early 2nd half. So much waste. These are all minor gripes when you're 16 pts. clear with a game in hand. F ucking hell, am I dreaming? This team
For me, it’s rare that you’ll get a good new metaphor in sports writing that’s not tortured to within an inch of its life and seems more artifice than workable. But here’s one from The Guardian that works very well, in my opinion. Talking about the fluidity of Liverpool’s attacking versus the static and perhaps naive nature of United’s defending, Barney Ronay had it that Liverpool were “like battle-hardened mountain wolves closing in on a flock of geriatric sheep”. Now that’s good writing and metaphoring!
