Lozano just signed a new deal with Santos Laguna ... he's not coming, likely never was. Another credible goal scorer to provide cover and competition for Kamara is positively essential. A RB is utterly necessary along with cover along the back line and perhaps one more starting grade MF.

Yeah, I'm sick of that crap. The team signs a potentially promising players, and Olsen sits him because he's "not showing well in practice" or some such nonsense. The player gets frustrated, and leaves soon thereafter. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Put the guy on the field and let him play himself out of a starting spot, if need be. I don't care whether or not the guy is trying hard during practice. This isn't high school sport.

Relax. He's only been on 3 teams (Universitario-->Aalborg-->Morelia) His stint in spain was as a u-18 on the 2nd division reserve team. And, from the way he sounded when leaving Denmark, I don't think it was ever his intention to stay in Morelia for very long. It was a stopgap until he found something better--and even morelia, a lower-tier team who over-acheived this year with Flores there, knew it as well and got a good deal out of it. In this case, I really think everybody wins.

I'm personally very excited for the DC fans.

When Flores shows up and gives us 6 goals and 8 assist can I call him a deck chair??

Wouldn't that depend on how the team performs with him on the field? Those numbers might be great if his overall play has contributed to lots of goals for Kamara and a high position in the standings.

I am a bit baffled at the snark around Flores (unless it's just trolling for the heck of it). He seems like an outstanding signing both on and off the field.

It is not personal against Flores. I have said before we keep bringing these guys in and they show flashes and then disappear for five matches. Acosta did it, hell Rooney did it. So until one of these guys actually is Etch or Jaime I will continue to have disdain for them.

Not trolling I am not bothered nor do I get enjoyment out of people who disagree.

This did not happen with Mora, Jara, Rodriguez, Acosta, Canouse, Arriola, Moreno, Segura. Rooney. Sounds like you are finding more fault with Ben Olsen than what’s usually being dealt out.

    Thx,

    Jay!

Doesn’t sound like he was benched for not being ready or not showing well in practice. Sounds like he was benched when United made a, gasp, tactical change.

    Thx,

    Jay!

he wasn’t benched sooner because , gasp, everyone on the bench was hurt.

Or did you conveniently forget that part?

Okay then, two of 11 players. Certainly not as common as it’s being made out by some.

    Thx,

Evidently he embraces the ear thing with his goal celebration, and his nickname is “Orejas” ("Ears" in spanish).

    Love it.

Maybe the snark isn't entirely warranted, but neither is hype. He's just a guy, not a star. He's part of a new phenomena at DC where we splash money on people no one else wants to splash money on just to claim we have ourselves a baller. Remember this guy isn't coming on as a regular player, he's a DP. Maybe DP just doesn't mean anything anymore? It's possible, but for at least a few years the expectation was DPs would be high output guys.

I guess it's good that we've gotten over our phase of claiming we have young guys coming up the pipeline.

You would have anyway, 'fess up. ;)

In terms of what constitutes a "deck chair" in your mind, you gotta admit, you don't exactly set the bar to a Dick Fosbury-challenging height.

Hell, 18 months ago, you'd have called Lucharoo a "deck love seat" if they hadn't started scoring all those goals . . . :ROFLMAO:

I'd rep this if you said "if" and not "when." I mean, come on, let's not predict that he's going to suck.

What's the point of being a fan if you can't at least hope for a positive outcome?

He has the potential to be very good, but so have many who have come through here. 1996-2004 are over and done here. I am being a realist.

We are going to finish between the #4 seed and the #9 seed (yes I know only 7 make the playoffs). If unlike the past two season we get lucky we could win one playoff game. Then stick a fork in us. Until a true cultural change occurs (I am not talking only Ben as many of you here do) but from top to bottom this is what we would be paying our money for.

6 goals and 8 assist does not suck but it is not DP level output.

I went to the R&B website today and there was a link to a Dutch article about interest in Sorga from Dutch, Portuguese, Swedish and Polish clubs. I put the article through Microsoft's translator and found this in the comment section to the article. I think it is a type of Zen koan for the upcoming season.

Ben's the man again. Too bad about that tick error. But then he shouldn't have got the booze. He wouldn't have vibrated like that right now.

Sorry Shawn, had to rep that ^^^^

It was funny and lets be frank, Kasper the last few years has gotten fairly decent pieces to the puzzle with the budget he's been handed. He's prolly the least culpable in the shit show which is DCU the last 6-8 years and I will always contend that its ownership who owns a massive share of the blame ahead of the players, Olsen and Kasper.

I guess I'll get my answer as to whether or not you can get a 20a/10g guy for the kind of money we'd have netted out of the PSG/Lucho debacle. I tended to think not and I guess we will see. Keeping in mind Lucho did that mostly with Rooney on field.

Whats the bar for a $5M DP who is likely the #1 point of focus for the opponent?
