There’s no need to act like the ideas that Atlanta hasn’t figured out youth development and that Carleton is a screwup are mutually exclusive.
And Goslin’s option was not picked up. Chris should probably look for a USL Championship club to get his career moving.
finally some good news: #atlutd is sorting out a loan for Carleton. Team tbd.— Doug Roberson (@DougRobersonAJC) January 13, 2020
Now he’s guaranteed to miss Atlanta United victory celebrations... This is no big deal, after all Christian Pulisic spent some time with the Harrisburg City Islanders...
Carleton's trajectory hit some major speed bumps. At least there are some off field issues that explain it. Is there any similar reasoning as to why the Malone kid for Seattle that you promoted has not done much yet?
You mean the Malone kid that I saw play a couple of times and mentioned that I liked him? That kid? The one that is in the U20 camp right now? I would hardly call that a promotion, but I would guess he is doing ok.
You specifically mentioned him as a player that you rated ahead of Carleton after you mentioned that he was ranked fairly low on your list of talents. I would think Seattle of all places would be desperate to sign such a player, but he's playing college soccer instead.
The above is exactly what I said about a specific DA Showcase event and my conversations with other scouts. Your revisionism is mind boggling. Go back and read the entire post I made and tell me where you see any promoting. I specifically spoke about some lessor known players that were garnering some attention and being talked about amongst the scouts. I also said I don't rank players, so I am not sure why this particular player is standing out in your brain. I guess I just don't understand why its so difficult for you to say that Carleton has been a complete disappointment and will probably fall into the class of talented youngster that didn't make it as a professional. We all miss on players, I do every single year.
Only thing that can make this thread anymore entertaining would be Carleton getting loaned to DC United. Olsens 1 sub. Game limit would provide a seasons worth of posts for the masses.
I have said for months that Carleton is a complete disappointment. Why are you so obsessed with hearing that? You mentioned Malone after shitting on Carleton and saying that you didn't rate him highly. I asked about players you rate higher since I was genuinely interested in who might be considered a bigger talent. That is when you mentioned Malone, and that was the first time I had heard of him, so his name stuck with me as one to follow.
Again, go find where you asked me about players I rated higher than Carleton. Also, go find where I put together a list of them. You're literally making stuff up.
https://www.dirtysouthsoccer.com/2020/1/13/21063630/atlanta-united-seeking-loan-for-andrew-carleton "The decision makes a ton of sense considering Carleton’s missteps with the team. Whether it’s been off-the-field issues or inconsistencies on it, the youngster just hasn’t been able to find his feet at the professional level. A loan to another club where he can be challenged to earn regular minutes without the expectations of being the hometown kid and first-ever Homegrown signing seems like the best option for him. The question now is, what destination would be best for his development? Will we see him with another MLS club? Is the USL in his future? Or could he find himself completely out of his comfort zone and trying his luck abroad? Stay tuned." Oh, rest assured, we will. I asked you this question on 12/17/18: @bpet15 I disagree with your opinion of AC, but it sounds like you have a better perspective on his value and perception overseas. I am curious who, in your opinion, the top five U19 American prospects are in terms of value. The names you responded with: Richards Reyna Bello Scally Granitur Malone
If that is what you took from my response, everything makes sense now. Is there a reason you didn’t quote the entirety of my post?
Sources telling me that #ATLUTD is working on a deal to send Andrew Carleton on loan to #IndyForever of the #USL Championship. The loan would run for the full 2020 season.Carleton (19) has represented the #USMNT at the U-20 level.— Jeff Rueter (@jeffrueter) January 13, 2020
Yea this puts him pretty low down the totem pole as a potential future top usmnt player. He needs to really perform in the USL to have a shot at us caring about him as much as we did before.
