Nice article about Jesse Marsch. Why didn't we make him our coach or TD a few years ago? https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...alzburg-im-not-treated-like-an-american-coach
He'll be in Germany soon enough , if he ever comes back to MLS it'll be for a club at Atlanta's level of success in the stands. I hope he doesn't make Bob's mistake and think he can fix the disaster of the USMNT program.
He went down hill pretty fast after he left the Fire. https://www.espn.com/soccer/major-l...-pappa-gets-5-year-domestic-violence-sentence
Seattle had some issues with player accountability about the time he was playing there. He's not the only case of a player suddenly doing an about face in life decision making after a trade to Seattle. I'm not saying it was all on Seattle and the organization , it wasn't as Pappa is a grown as a man. But the Sounders ignored some of the warning signs that were going on with Marco. What a waste , he should never have left the Fire . I'm betting somewhere in his mind he's thinking the same thing .
I only remember him being the victim.... https://www.denverpost.com/2016/01/...s-midfielder-marco-pappas-stabbing/?appsrc=sc
He had numerous alcohol related incidents in Seattle-including a DUI . It was a build up to the domestic.
Ives Galarcep @SoccerByIves I'm told FC Cincinnati director of player development Larry Sunderland is the leading candidate to become the next #USMNT Under-17 coach. More on that, and some coaches who I'm told have turned down #USYNT coaching offers:
Seriously, how many former Fire players have to end up in other places. At the end of day, the Fire can thrive without having any former players in the FO or coaching staff. It is amazing how long a list of former players that are out there doing their thing at other clubs and national teams. Tip of the cap to all of those guys who are thriving elsewhere. Is Eric Gehrig the last Fire player to be on the staff?
So within a year our academy developing GM will hire Gonzo back here into our reconfigured and improved academy, right?
Sega fir U15 and Sunderland is rumored for the U17 (?) Job. So it looks like Brian McBride may be pushing for the former Fire Academy to run the Youth NT set up.
Out of the booth, at least. By the way, can we add Mike Magee to the booth? Sure, he has his vodka to sell, but this would be a part time gig for him. He would be excellent. Also, he said the "right thing" (for the Chicago Fire [FC]) management to hear. I see a city in flames. Our city. Above it in yellow I see what we did next which is build the greatest city in the world. I like the crest. When the club wins I’ll love it.— Mike Magee (@magee18) November 21, 2019
Disagree. His Jekyll/Hyde performance was his bane. IMO. Post scrip- I think 5 years in a Latin American prison is going to make Marco a changed man.
Ex-Fire academy prospect Jesus Perez played 57 minutes for NYCFC in their friendly against Corinthians. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020/01/15/mls-preseason-2020-nycfc-open-2-1-loss-corinthians
