If the NFL were serious about protecting players from head injuries and long-term damage like CTE, they could have put an end to this nonsense years ago. I used to watch every Bengals game I could and all the NFL playoff games, but I quit years ago. The exact moment I quit was when the Bengals were playing the Steelers in the Wild Card game and Ryan Shazier dropped his helmet and unloaded on Giovanni Bernard, knocking him out. If the NFL had been serious about protecting against head injuries, Shazier should have been penalized, fined and possibly suspended for that hit. Not only was he not, but the NFL bent over backwards to explain why it wasn't a penalty. The league's "crown of the helmet" rule clearly outlawed the type of hit Shazier made, but the league first tried to explain that it was no penalty because he didn't fall under the "defenseless receiver" rule. When that didn't hold water, they used a lawyerly explanation that the "crown of the helmet" rule didn't apply because Shazier and Bernard were on "different planes of travel" or some BS like that. The irony is that a few years later, Shazier was leading with the crown of his helmet again and injured his spine and hasn't been able to play football since. He's lucky he wasn't permanently paralyzed. Here's a Youtube clip of the hit.
Maybe what is needed is a significant fine every time there is helmet to helmet contact. Proceeds to either brain research or the NFL pension fund. I'm not advocating a penalty, as sometimes it is inadvertent. And sometimes both players would get the fine as sometimes the player being hit also lowers his head.
I have been watching a small amount of rugby on tv. No helmets but no head injuries because noone is using their helmets as a weapon! I do miss the forward pass but the action is pretty much non-stop with no tv commercials after every play! Kind of refreshing!
Got one of his long sleeve game worn jerseys at the garage sale few years back. I miss the long sleeves.
Because the spawn of the original STC thread is the best place for this: Rush drummer Neil Peart dead at 67
I haz major sad. If not the greatest, one of the greatest drummers ever. Period. An incredible lyricist. And a humble, genuinely nice guy. Huge loss. From Geddy and Alex: “It is with broken hearts and the deepest sadness that we must share the terrible news that on Tuesday our friend, soul brother and bandmate over 45 years, Neil, lost his incredibly brave three and a half year battle with brain cancer. We ask that friends, fans and media alike understandably respect the family’s need for privacy and peace at this extremely painful and difficult time. Those wishing to express their condolences can choose a cancer research group or charity of their choice and make a donation in Neil Peart’s name. Rest in peace, brother.”
Listened to the 5.1 of Moving Pictures, a stereo version of Permanent Waves, and found the Exit Stage Left video on YouTube, since I wanted something with young Geddy's voice. Tears were shed. A massive influence on my playing, even after moving on to other musical forms over these last few decades.
@LaMacchia Here's some "Random Azz Sheet" for you. Found a holy grail jersey during my periodic ebay search for Crew stuff. Might be your size? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Adidas-Cli...637670?hash=item3b3f64bf66:g:1YwAAOSwkW5eCQWI
I don't really see the one off jerseys (parley/pride/etc.) that much on ebay. I think partly because one I'm guessing they were more limited runs so there's just less of them out there and two they are newer so people aren't selling them yet since they haven't moved to the back of the closet to collect dust.
Oh man, that's a great find. I'm really tempted to pull the trigger, but the fact that it's a replica rather than authentic is holding me back. I can be a picky bastard sometimes.
I actually do....Gamer at that, as I recall. I think I need to insert something about elderberries here, though....

Someone bumped into my rocking chair here at the God's Waiting Room Rest Home as I was sleeping off my morning Cream of Wheat feast, and as I was trying not to fall and break my hip as I grabbed for a nurse's ass, I was wondering what they mean by "blue checkmark people" Is this a Twitter thing?
It is. The blue check mark is used to identify 'verified' accounts. It has it's benefits but there was a time period where Twitter was just handing it out to anyone who applied so accounts like "We Rate Dogs" are verified.. They've cut back on that and now it's more comprehensive.
It just means that the name of the person listed is the real person or entity. They tend to have a lot of followers and are famous.
