I’ve been trying to figure out why the heat has gone out of my hate for Austin and it just occurred to me ... they’re no longer a threat and now they’re just a bunch of MLS fan LARPers.

So is Dave Greeley no longer get with Two Oaks? I’ve seen some tweets that he has his own consulting business and fully admits Atx was the plan from day 1 in Columbus. That explains why he did zero to help the Crew during his time here.
Anyways I’m just hoping this is the end of Shitface Precourt and we can all move on...even further.

In the past DPs were not part of the draft.

Quote from this piece of shit: "The time is right for my next challenge – launching something new and tapping into my entrepreneurial and deal-making spirit. I’m pleased to announce Team Orbis"

The definition of orbis: circle, ring. a circular motion. a rotation. a disc or disc-shaped object. the Earth, the world, the globe [often written as orbis terrarum] totus orbis terrarum the whole wide world.

Sounds like this scumbag is now on his own, after a disastrous run with PSV trying to rip our club away from us. That is after he completely tanked Chicago Fire. Burn in hell Greeley. What comes around goes around......

    Why not a voicemail?

What a total sleezeball. I think I dislike Greeley more than anyone else involved in the saga. He deserves everything that comes his way and I hope he and Precourt had a knock-down, drag-out fight at the end.

And I hope that somewhere Mark McCullers is smiling.

Isn't the rule that DPs, in theory, do participate in the draft, but its mandatory for teams to have them in their 11 (or however many it is) player protected list, effectively making them unavailable?

what an absolute douche canoe. Undeniable truth that Austin was the plan from day one:
SEVEN YEARS!!!! All this bullshit about how Columbus wasn’t a soccer town and the fans sucked. Dragged us through hell for two full years because Garber wanted us gone.

And let’s remember that. Greeley was in on this thing pre-Tony ****************. Garber was the Empoleror Palpadine in all of this.

Wow. Just amazing that he actually says in print that it was the plan to move all along. I wonder how this gets explained away by the Austinophiles. Probably the same way they explain their membership in NAMBLA.

    From Team Orbis.......
He is a diehard University of Michigan fan, having earned a BA and MBA at the university. Greeley resides in Austin, Texas, where he is a member of the Austin Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors.

I bet in some twisted way he got a kick out of trying to F-over Columbus.

DPs - as long as there have been DPs, that is - have always been eligible to be left exposed in expansion drafts. Here's how it was stated in the rules that governed the last draft:

Pretty straight forward, though - as is often the case in the public version of the league's rules we get to see on the MLS website - in previous years the wording used was kinda sloppy. A decade or so ago the wording was too loose, leading some fans to misinterpret what it really meant. Here's the rule from 2008:

Great, they "do not have to be protected"! Which led some people to read into the rule that DPs were exempt from the draft. Not so. It just meant that teams were not required to protect DPs but, if they did not, they'd be exposed. Just like any other player.

Now, in practice, rarely do DPs show up on the exposed player list. I mean, you'd think they should be the most valuable players in their respective teams, right? So why the hell would you leave them exposed? Plus, you have to assume that at least some of them have no-trade clauses in their contracts, requiring their clubs to protect them.

But it does happen. Like for NYCFC in this past draft:

    My favorite:

"Served on league-run Board of Governors"

By which he's claiming to have been on the MLS Board of Governors, which consists of the principal owner of each team. Which he is not and has never been. I've seen a photo of him sitting next to F********* Mc********* S********M********A**********, but I'm sure all the owners bring someone with them to BoG meetings, as none of them really knows jack squat about day-to-day operations.

But "served on (the) Board of Governors" is a bald-faced lie.

Exactly this. The feeling I always had was that Greeley, based on his previous work in MLS, would never be at the top of anyone's list to assist with building a success. I'd love to see the communications between Garber, Greeley and Precourt. How all this got started are things we assume but the true details might be good to know for sure. I will always believe Garber was in it from the start and will never forgive him.

The more I think about them all the more apathetic (yeah yeah, despite my posting in this thread, I know) I get fortunately. Maybe that will change once they start competing.

    Remarkable.

    He says this:

But then includes a phone number with a Chicago area code in his signature. Classic.

Meh. Area codes are completely meaningless these days when mobile phones are most peoples' exclusive telephony device and long distance is basically a bad memory.
