Saw someone claim Ajax starting an all "Dutch" (including a dual nat or two...) line-up. 16 yo Unuvar makes his official debut as he comes on in 66 minute - big expectations for Naci. Pierie kicked Cambuur's Jacob in the noggin' and he had to leave the game. Jong Ajax up 2-0 late in the game.
extended 8 mins of highlights. Kik's kick at 5:00 - looks like he got his boot a bit high. Not much exceptionally good or bad from Pierie otherwise. He doesn't get forward too much. His CD partner Timbers got better reviews, but from the highlights neither stands out in either direction. Looks like Pierie captained again.
Too bad they gave up those late goals. 10H might have risked Kik instead of Veltman if he wasn't worried Telstar was going to win it.
I think 10H is really pissed off right now. Should have won the CL group (should have beaten Chelsea twice, for example, but fell apart {+ some bad luck}); should have a comfortable league lead but have fallen back {significant injuries have played a role}; should have eased past Telstar (instead of relying on goals from Dest), etc. It's too bad for Kik that he went off the boil instead of catching fire at just the right time.
Yep, with the injuries, suspensions and lots of Nov/Dec matches, even tho Kik didn't win first team at the start of the season he could have gotten some chances. He's just isn't playing well enough. I haven't watch much JongAjax but reviews have Timber looking better there and Kik's replacement looking as good or better than him at 'veen.
Kik starts today, with Mendez on the bench, v OSS. Note that R Koeman is in goal for OSS - could he be an undercover observer?
Jong Ajax edged in front at the very end of the 1st half, 1-0, Brobbey @ 44'. (Mendez still waiting.)
And Kik went the full 90', as usual, in a 2-0 victory. Jong Ajax now tied at the top with Cambuur, but Cambuur has a game in hand (@ Excelsior on Sunday). Jong Ajax is now on a break, returning January 13 @ PSV. Circle that one on your calendars.
Pierie played the last 10 or so of the Brugge- Ajax friendly today. (Horvath DNP. Migs went all 90. Ajax won 3-1 (OG, Zy, Promes) Lots of highlights here. https://www.hln.be/sport/voetbal/be...dlvr.it&referer=https://t.co/CwbLYoS2X7?amp=1

@freisland Mmmm, you know that defenders from/developed by Dutch clubs are in great demand nowadays, even from teams in our second tier. Barcelona a few months ago snapped up a kid from the youth of low flying MVV (the Barcelona president last year told press their scouts watch every match in the Dutch leagues, now it seems even the youth teams). Xavier Mbuyamba was just 17 and not even on Dutch clubs radar yet when Barcelona picked him up in August 2019. nos.nl › ... Xavier Mbuyamba was put into the first team selection as one of the first acts of the new coach. So, given Kik's qualities he for sure is on the big clubs radar and they for sure noticed he's in a spot he doesnot belong. I'm pretty sure Italian clubs and Barcelona/Atletico are watching. There arenot that many CD's with a Frank de Boer like long range passing quality like Kik has. If Ajax takes too long time they might lose him.
Not sure if anyone noticed, but Kik was on the Ajax bench on Sunday, so we'll have to see if he plays for Jong Ajax today. It was a long bench, btw: Bruno Varela Perr Schuurs Edson Alvarez Kik Pierie Carel Eiting (in for Gravenberch) Klaas Jan Huntelaar Siem De Jong Razvan Marin Lassina Franck Traore (in for Babel) Jurgen Ekkelenkamp (in for Ziyech) Sergino Dest Dominik Kotarski
I see what you did there... Kik needs Spector's mom to do more. Blind tried to accommodate him, but Maz came back too quickly... Kik needs like a 3-4 deep level of rehab in the back line. Missed it by *that* much.
