i erred on the side of inclusion given The Dest Affair. what seems done and dusted is not necessarily so.
https://www.transfermarkt.us/kik-pierie/nationalmannschaft/spieler/361207 he played 3 games as a CB/LB for the Dutch U20s in the U20 Elite League (within UEFA) in the September and October 2019 windows. "The American sports culture and mindset appeals to me, but on the other hand I am also a proud Dutchman...." https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/kik...-step-into-de-ligts/es72o275s16514pm2e7o9mh46 my sense is that one is (now?) unlikely. straight line of hollands on his international YNT resume.
from Bundesliga.com, essentially a propaganda site. Loads of reaching and incorrect things when discussing the players. Also funny how they keep making new lists about German-Americans that are top 10, lol. Maurice Malone, Malik Tillman and the 10 best German-Americans in Bundesliga youth academies 1-Malik Tillman, provisionally capped by Germany 2-Maurice Malone, provisionally capped by Germany 3-Jalen Hawkins, last with USA 4-Lennard Maloney, last with USA 5-Max Goggel, did he make any USA camps in Summer? Can't recall. Otherwise last with Germany. 6-Pablo Soares, was part of a newb German U18 team like this week 7-Ian Hoffmann, last with USA 8-Maximilian Dietz, last with USA 9-Noah Jones, last with USA 10-Leon Flach, last with Germany https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bunde...-in-bundesliga-youth-academies-usa-usmnt-8660 also incorrect to list Maloney as an Academy player since he's an unestablished pro player who's headed on loan. Malone is also not really an Academy player either, he's getting close to the 1st team. Would expect chances could come once Augsburg get further and further to safety. And some of these players listed are also nowhere near the 1st team at their respective clubs. players who move post U19 and into the adult realm in Summer are Hawkins (also the non listed Butler), Hoffmann and Flach
Two interesting dual-nationals called up to the imminent US U20 camp. [No details on coach or location of said camp.] Good news for #USMNT fans. Matko Miljevic of Argentinos Juniors tells me that he’s headed to next week’s Under-20 camp. Scheduled to arrive on Wednesday.— Arch Bell (@ArchBell) January 5, 2020 On the dual national front: I am hearing Texas-born midfielder Leon Flach will be on the upcoming U.S. U-20 roster. Flach has been doing well with St. Paul's youth teams and has played for Germany's U-18 team multiple times in 2018 and 2019.— Brian Sciaretta (@BrianSciaretta) January 6, 2020
For folks wanting more info on Miljevic. He's a little more than a "prospect" as he's already getting first team playing time in Argentina. My new piece on Matko Miljevic. The attacking mid has played a role this season with the current leaders in Argentina. Now with the U.S. U-20s, he's returning to the country of his birth for the first time since he left as a young child. Bulgaria getting aggressive with Indiana Vassilev shouldn't surprise anybody. He's played for the US U17s and U20s. We'll see what happens here. We should EXPECT our young dual nationals to be contacted by other national teams. We have a very good retention rate (we obssess over a couple of high profile cases). 🇧🇬 or 🇺🇸? According to a few Bulgarian reports, Indiana Vassilev might get a call up to the Bulgarian national squad for their next fixtures.Indy’s father was a pro footballer in Bulgaria before moving to the US. Tough decision for the young man, who would you pick? #avfc pic.twitter.com/1tEow0FQ17— AVFCchats 🦁 (@AVFCchats) January 26, 2020 In better news, it looks like we've bagged Jesus Ferreira. Jesus Ferreira went into his first #USMNT camp keeping his national team options open, but I'm told Ferreira has committed to USA, informing U.S. Soccer on Monday: https://t.co/4PmQx7mKnm— Ives Galarcep (@SoccerByIves) January 28, 2020
Mr. Vassilev has been well-courted by the USMNT over the years. It is a positive development in its own right over the past years that the USMNT player pool has featured players who feel that they may have a better shot at rising to the first team in middling European programs. I don't know if this is his reasoning or not, but Vassilev has been welcomed into the USMNT with open arms.
This could be a break-out year for Jesus Ferreira at FCD and with the Olympic team. He should grow physically this year and he's getting a taste of the next level in this camp and is reportedly doing well. He'll have a couple of decent scorers playing with him at FCD...this could very well be the year that he makes the climb.
If you're trying to highlight specific interesting dual nationals I am not sure how great burying them in a list of 10 links really is.
