I really liked to see him in our last friendlies when he performed as a captain and a 'playmaker'. You could see that he took the job very seriously, didn't try to much to dribble, looking the pass first. I know that he won't be the same when James or Quintero will play, but I hope he'll try because he is much more effective this way.

Did not watch the match but he got rewarded with a full 90 minutes today.
That following a good showing in the CL is encouraging.

Maybe Sarri will depend on him more as the season progresses.

Yes. Seems like he has great character on and off the field in the locker room. And he probably does whatever the manager asks of him. That helps.

Had a good game today in CL.

He’s been playing as a RB for Juve lately and doing pretty well. If he can do it for them it would be good to play him there. Especially considering Arias’ situation, and Medina being our starting RB....

Others have been pointing that out as well.

We have seen Pekerman do it against Bolivia a few times so it is not out of the realm of possibility.

That said, the role that he has now is his and no one else seems to be good enough to replace him. And the reason I say that is because he started both matches last month. Maybe someone else can develop and show something these next two months but I think we are stuck with him in his new centralized role for a while.

We have seen this movie before though. Juve Cuadrado is a very different player than Colombia Cuadrado.

If he played instead of Medina on the National team he would probably try to defend someone and flop around as the offensive player gets the ball easily away from him and scores.

He's so ********ing disciplined and keeps it simple for Juve, then when he comes to play for Colombia he has to be a star. He had a very good performance again at right back, playing him there for us when we need an 8 with his qualities would be dumb, but its still good that he's playing right back because a lot of the game he was coming inside and had to defend and be responsible for space etc. If CQ can get the Juve mentality of discipline and not trying to dribble or dive every time he gets the ball he'll be fantastic for us playing in a midfield 3.

He's been really good for Juve and one of their most important players. They played basically 4 holding midfielders likely to accommodate him playing as a right wing back basically. He's good there, he just sits in the half space and the defense always has to respect that he can move from the interior to the wing at any point. It's the same thing Pep does with his fullbacks, takes guys like Cancelo, Mendy, Walker and moves them inside to cover for counter attacks but in possession they're dangerous because they can stretch the defense whenever needed.

Cuadrado having a great game again so far. Very good first half, the dude digs in and battles and RB or as an 8 is definitely his best positions now, would like to see him tried on the left for us to see if he can play there and we can play Arias and Cuadrado.

I did like when he was playing on the left for Reyes. I think it was the Venezuela match in Miami.

I actually liked when he had free role in the middle of the field, switching from left to right. I guess it was because James didn't play' but Cuadrado did much better than just be a static on the right side and lose the ball over and over again. He has so much to give besides just dribbles, I hope he'll prove it under Queiroz with the 4-3-3.

I think for us he gets into trouble because he wants to do too much and holds the ball too long, for Juve he's the opposite, he holds his tactical position and he cycles possession and keeps it simple using his ability on the ball and to break lines with his dribbling mainly as a threat to create space and time for himself. Playing as a RB he's struck the perfect balance, he moves into midfield to provide cover when attacking and he jumps into the attack and overlaps when needed but you rarely see him overdo it or get caught on the ball like he does for Colombia. It makes sense I think, he views himself as the creative protagonist with James for Colombia since 2014, but really its not his best attributes and his role at Juve is perfect for him. Hopefully he embraces that for us as he gets older, he can be the guy who does what's needed, digs in and defends and cycles possession seeing the big picture, if he does that he's gonna be fantastic as an 8 or as a fullback, for now he's crucial for us as an 8 since we don't really have anyone else who can do it yet.

That clip doesn’t make justice to all his participation in the play. He won the ball back near his box (there was a slight hand touch when he slid that Atlanta furiously complained about), then sprinted to get the assist.

Cuadrado red-carded following a VAR. He was the last defender and did a terrible tackle.

Part of the reason I don't want to see him at RB for Colombia.

Cuadrado did what he had to do in that play....actually he was covering the position of the central backs...

i doubt that arias, cancelo, medina or danilo would made a different action.....he was trying to save the asses of de light and bonucci....

ps: he deserved yellow not red imho

I don't know what he deserved but the fact is he got the red and did not get the benefit of the doubt from VAR.
And the point is that concerns me.
