Some news about Calvin Verdonk, the Dutch LB who has been heavily linked with us in the past months : https://www.vi.nl/nieuws/la-galaxy-transfer-verdonk-onzeker-bij-fc-twente-heb-ik-het-plezier-terug He's on loan with FC Twente until the end of the month. He said he's "happy at Twente", "it's not totally certain" he will go to LA, "his agent is working on it, it will be more clear during the winter break".
http://www.footmercato.net/flash-mercato/info-fm-dijon-etudie-la-piste-romain-alessandrini_268975 French Ligue 1 club Dijon is interested in Alessandrini. According to the article, journalists have contacted Romain's agent, who said there is also interest from some English and American clubs.
The season starts way earlier on 2/29 (leap year!). I think it's a good move by the league to get in international play, and it means Galaxy football on my screen earlier!!! Also good news for getting in shape for CCL earlier. Interesting that it really does butt up against USMNT camp.
According to twitter we signed Sacha. MEH Not the answer we were looking for but I'll bet he at least plays a few minutes unlike 2019 Juninho.
Maybe it’s that the previous Klejstan saga has soured me on him (not his fault I know), but I feel pretty indifferent about this signing. do agree— for the right price this can be a savvy addition to the club. I’d like for us to pursue Ibarra as another depth option, but more than anything, I want to see us improve our starting XI in some tangible way.
I guess the rumors I posted a week or two ago were true. So this likely means we are looking to sell Kitchen and maybe Bingham too.
This won't surprise me but it could be very hard to move Kitchen and his big salary. Bingham looks more feasible with the GK swing in MLS this winter (I can see him going to RSL for example), but not that easy too.
As for Kljestan, I always loved the player and he gives us some creativeness. He could be a great option from the bench in the last minutes of a game where we need a goal with his ability to generate assists. On the bad sides, he's on his last wheels, is very slow, and could overshadow Efrain. I still hope we sign a true "stay home" DM and play Jona higher but I'm not sure that's the plan. We still need a starting CB, LB, striker at least, maybe a GK if we move Bingham, and I would add a winger capable of starting even if we keep Alessandrini, and a new 6 IMO.
GBS' time as a player in Columbus coincides with Sacha's time with Chivas, although I don't think we're getting the same player he might remember Just hung up with Guillermo Barros Schelotto. He confirmed that Sacha Kljestan and the #LAGalaxy have agreed to terms. GBS praised Kljestan’s experience and quality.— Felipe Cárdenas (@FelipeCar) December 9, 2019
It will be interesting to see what salary they agreed on. Anything even close to the regular MLS maximum would be, IMO, a colossal waste of money.
Kljestan's salary is 730k with 1.1m total comp according to the site: https://www.prosoccerusa.com/mls/or...n-are-orlando-citys-two-highest-paid-players/
Really?? We are using almost 1 mil in cap space for a 34yo midfielder with a whopping 1 goal and 3 assists in 2019? (23 appearances, 13 starts) I didn't watch him play but a few minutes last season but I can read a game log. And the game logs show he began last season as a regular starter but by the end of the season he was stuck on the bench, playing only 80 minutes total over his last 10 games. I'm sorry, but if you can't get off the bench for a crappy team you probably aren't the answer for us. :-(
Oh, good. I could see him as bench depth, getting bench depth salary, but I really hope we using 700k cap space for the guy. In his prime yes but at this point he might be worth half of that.
Agreed. I don’t see him ahead of JDS, Lletget, Or Corona. He’s depth. Hopefully not overpriced depth.
