Lots of talk recently about Chelsea ready to make a big move for Sancho in the summer. Them and United are really the destination in England at least that make the most sense for him tbh. Some publications are saying that Pool are the favorites, but just don't see it unless one of Mane or Salah goes. We should legitimately be worried about Chelsea if he's a target of theirs. Not even counting the London factor (with his friends and family there), Chelsea at this time look like the more attractive destination: young, energetic team guided by an exciting upstart manager. Still remains to be seen if they'll have CL to offer but that could be another plus if they can secure top 4. We know they'll be able to compete financially, especially coming off their transfer ban and it stands to reason they'll be looking to make a big splash in the market as well. If they're in the race, Woodward and Ole will have to put up one hell of a pitch to sell him on the idea to join us. With all those links seemingly coming out of nowhere, maybe this is being fed by his camp/agent to the media in order to secure a mega deal. But with a talent like his, it's really no surprise that clubs, both in England and across Europe, would be very eager to sign him.
Another one goes. This one was widely expected. Lots of managers getting the boot so far this season: who's next?
so much for the new manager bounce. as i said all along Arsenal were getting goals and results they shouldn't on balance of play/xG/whatever metric you want. hardly a surprise that once the goals dried up that the results went sour. it's been overdue in many ways
They should consider themselves lucky. Unlike us, they won't have a flying start and lock in their inexperienced, likable, over his head caretaker manager for a uncertain future.
At least, we know where the 'banter crown' firmly lies. They thought they passed it to us but despite all our problems and current situation, they're still keeping hold of it.
Chelsea back on the transfer market sooner than expected, after their suspension was reduced by the CAS. https://www.skysports.com/football/...-free-to-sign-players-in-january-after-appeal
The major issue in relation to your squad is the defense. That is where you guys are really deficient but I feel that a decent coach should have been able to patch something together until he is able to bring in reinforcements. For instance, instead of relying on the same names who simply have not produced, why not try a back 4 of Chambers and Tierney at FB, with Holding and Sokratis at CB? It's well known that Bellerin and Kolasinac can't defend. Same goes with David Luiz, who really is effective in a back 3 setup. The backline suggested above may still have issues but surely it would be more effective than going regularly with guys who can't defend to save their lives. Everywhere else, Arsenal's team is still good enough that they should be looking better than they have. The midfield is where you probably use someone extra but Torreira is a solid, up and coming holding mid, who apparently has been used everywhere but there in midfield. Guendouzi also has showed lot of promise. And then there is Ozil and Ceballos (what happened to him after a promising start?). Not even going to count Xhaka but Willock looks to be a decent squad option also So it's not like the midfield is devoid of talent either. Not even going to touch on the frontline, which is without a doubt the strongest part of the squad, bar none. All in all, this is a decent squad, one that should be doing way better than what it showed, in the hands of a decent manager at least. Emery really lost it and can't fault Lljunberg who is still a novice and probably shouldn't have that kind of responsibility yet. Defense aside, that is where Arsenal's main problem resides from my point of view. Give that squad to a qualified man and surely you'd see improvement almost immediately.
I think Zaha would be a horrible mistake. Too expensive and not nearly good enough. Also doesn’t at all fit the way we play. Personally, I think a CM should be pretty high on our list of priorities, since I don’t think Jorginho really fits Frank’s style. I get the sense Frank really wants to play a 4-2-3-1 with a very mobile double pivot, which we can’t do if either of Kante or Kovacic isn’t available or just tired. I agree on LB. Preferably not of the Chilwell variety.
BREAKING: Brendan Rodgers signs a new five-and-a-half year contract with @LCFC 🦊 pic.twitter.com/mEQkSeKEgo— ESPN FC (@ESPNFC) December 6, 2019 Another good move from Leicester to tie Rodgers down for another 5yrs.
Very early in his cycle for Mou to be discussing some of his players weaknesses. Cant imagine this makes good reading for some. Interesting that he thought Moura would do us damage. Think he expected BW or Shaw at LB and Rash central, so went with Moura and Aurier to attack us that side. Ole going with Rash at LWF and the relatively more defensive minded Young kinda messed up that plan https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...idfield-role-for-moussa-sissoko-a4307196.html
Watford have agreed a deal to name Nigel Pearson as their new manager following the sacking of Quique Sanchez Flores. Craig Shakespeare will be his assistant. (Source: BBC Sport) pic.twitter.com/1gI6PaOik8— Transfer News Live (@DeadlineDayLive) December 6, 2019
A few years ago ESPN wrote a long piece about soccer in Italy. An American went to Italy and met an Italian who seemed nice, but while at a game the American found out that the Italian was very prejudiced. Have people discussed the FA Cup draw anywhere? We have a tough trip to Wolverhampton, where we have two losses and a draw in calendar year 2019, including being eliminated in the FA Cup Quarterfinals. The only other game between two PL clubs is Liverpool vs. Everton. Man City gets to host one of the worst remaining clubs, Port Vale, who are ninth in League Two.
They're not exactly wrong to say something like that, especially considering how City got virtually away with their infractions scot free (a fine). Inconsistency is never a good look, with the perception of both UEFA and FIFA not really the best one to the general public at this time because of it.
I think Spurs are currently very hamstrung by Kane's deterioration. He's half the player he was a year and a half ago, and it makes a massive difference to their system. He's still getting goals to mask the effect, but they're mostly set piece goals/penalties, while against big sides he's just a zero in open play. But they don't really have a backup to Kane, and he's also their "talisman", as much as I hate that word. We'll see if England figure this out, or are fooled by his hat tricks against Bulgaria.
Can we compare what happened to Arsenal after Wenger is similar to what happened to us ? Though we were in a far better position for Moyseiah to ******** up.
The similarities are too obvious to ignore tbh (in terms of being a long standing and powerful figure at the club). And one would have thought that Arsenal would have learned from United in how they dealt with succeeding SAF. Hiring Emery was not as big a mistake as to how they're handling things now having fired him. There clearly was no plan there and it could end up costing them dear, since they may not be able to hire a new manager until next summer, with all of their main candidates either no ready (Allegri or even Poch) or simply not available (Rodgers, Vieira, Nuno etc...) If they have to go the whole season with Freddie at the helm, they could be in real trouble.
Sure but if you read here, we were pointing out the decline the team was heading towards. Moyes didnt help though, throw out all the brain trust.
