They could use a little juice right now. Favre is on the ropes. I think he may be that 5th a-mid, 2nd off the bench, after Reus, Hazard, Sancho, and Brandt. Ahead of Bruun Larsen I'm confident of, and maybe a diminishing Gotze. To wit he'd have a chance to be 2nd cf behind Alcacer (who just got injured btw). They never acquired a true backup. Though that's something they could do in the WTW.
Just scored a really nice goal against Barca in UEFA youth league. Picked up the ball at the top of the 18 off a turnover forced by a teammate, smoothly slalomed past two defenders and smoothly slotted it past the onrushing goalkeeper. Konrad is starting for Barca.
I hope the next several pages are about him actually training with the first team around the winter break.
BVB are in shambles right now. They are throwing away an easy chance at a championship. The coach will likely get fired with the next poor result. Not the best situation for Reyna to make a breakthrough but he should get first team time during the winter break regardless.
Favre clearly isn't and has never been the guy. They should have won the league last year. His inability to figure out how to get Sancho and Pulisic on the field at the same time, opting for Brunn-Larsen was inexplicable.
Opting for him over Nagelsmann or Rose was inexplicable. Both their previous clubs were punching above their weight at the time when Dortmund were in the market. Their new clubs are flying in the BL now, currently placed 1st and 2nd. Meanwhile, Nice were mid-table, after over-achievinng the previous season. It seems Favre rides a honeymoon effect and then peters out. Regardless of their coaching situation, Gio is in a fine position to debut after winter. Their broader technical staff seems to have a lot of sway over decisions when to integrate. And if Dortmund are underachieving that means their options Gio's comp are as well. They're not protecting a league lead like last season. Also 50/50 to end up in Europa, which they wouldn't prioritize, while it would still prompt rotation.
Once sancho gets sold this winter there might be a possibility gio makes the bench after the break (the added bench numbers in the bundesliga are helpful). Surely he is better than JBL.
Reyna now has 5 goals and 6 assists in all youth competitions this season... 10 Bundesliga + 3 Youth CL Games. That is pretty productive. He is also going the full 90 in the majority of games he plays. I really hope he is able to crack the top team in the 2nd half... gotta add more USMNT blood to my weekends in front of the TV.
Should also be mentioned that the newly minted 15 year old moukoko has something like 16 goals AGAINST V U18 year olds lol... https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.gi...-to-15yearold-wonderkid-youssoufa-moukoko?amp
Well... this is a Reyna thread... Furthermore, he is not US eligible... but man o man I wish he was. Kid has been putting up monster numbers for years in the youth leagues... scoring that many goals as an 11 year old in the U15s? Sic.
To put some perspective into it, here are the numbers from Messi himself: 2003–2004 Barcelona C 10 (5) 2004–2005 Barcelona B 22 (6) 2004– Barcelona 461 (428) That's apps (goals). I don't give a flying f if a kid is murdering other kids, even slightly older ones. The GOAT didn't and look how his career turned out.
For further context, here’s some additional stat lines: Brunn Larsen - 62 total U19 BVB games - 36g and 31a Pulisic - 17 total U19 BVB games - 8g and 8a Sancho - 6 total U19 BVB games - 4g and 2a
Reyna receives a write-up in this BBC piece: World Cup 2026: Meet the future North American stars dreaming of success
Thanks for posting. I had to hold down my vomit to get thru the Efrain portion as I have a hard time abiding his ditching of this great nation.... and I am a secondary Galaxy Fan. But Country comes first and since he got his opportunities in the US at the club level and even captained a U15 US Youth Squad it makes the switch really hard for me to stomach. At any rate, I have not had the pleasure of seeing too much of Reyna. I did get to see the "Disappointed in Brazil" the piece talked about and I failed to see anything even close to CP w/ respect to pace... but that whole team looked lost. I am eager to see how he plays moving forward. Serious high praise for him from some respected individuals. I have to trust that they have seen what I have yet to.
