So much for that idea they floated a few months ago of cold weather teams opening at warm weather teams ... Miami hosts LAG in their home opener on 3/14. But why piss off one of your big money warm weather teams by making them play at a weaker foe who has the weather as an advantage.
Here's hoping for a late season snow bomb on the East Coast. Dipshits, starting a season in February with games in DC, Philly, Columbus and NJ. At least Montreal can close the roof. The AF game is a 1:00 PM start in the coldest month of the year on a pitch torn up by the XFL -- brilliant.
Makes some sense to have two originals play in the 25th season of the league. No warm options unless you want to send DC out west (Unless you count FC Dallas as starting in 1996 not in 200x.)
Will be the first home opener in many years for which I will need to buy a ticket on the open market. I'm curious how much my old STM seat in 404 will run.
The stadium expansion was supposed to be secret but some people can't keep their mouth's (in a matter of speaking) shut.
Jeff Carlisle just dropped this nugget ... MLS and the teams are at least considering the possibility of scab players if they can't reach a CBA agreement right around the 14:30 mark. Can't fathom that going over with any fan. https://www.tsn.ca/radio/montreal-6...are-far-apart-with-cba-negotiations-1.1408337
They gonna pull up guys from Cristos FC and call them United - LOL - I'm already this close with this club - that would send me (likely permanently) over the edge. If anyone is setting up ways to sabotage this if it gets close to happening, I will gladly participate; there is not much worse in the world than a scab in my book and it's easy for me to justify doing pretty much anything to them, perhaps short of serious violence against their actual persons. I once, as a young teen, drove thru the Westinghouse parking lot on my moped with a big box of carpentry nails while those workers were on strike, leading to some gloriously flat tires for those bastards
Not surprising at all when you consider the PU has amassed enough cash to pay every player in MLS something like $4K a month for half a season. So, yeah, it would be malfeasance for MLS to not have a plan beyond idling operations. No plan B is a terrible negotiating strategy and almost guarantees a strike. But MLS isn't usually unreasonable and the PU isn't going to demand total free agency or strike over charter flights. The WWF aspect of the entire thing would be amusing if it weren't such an irritating waste of resources.
Just perused the MLS free agent list. My impression of those remaining, any one or more of the following: too old, too expensive or too mediocre to take a flyer. I'm sure one could try to gin up an argument for someone like Klejstan or the like, but even if you did, you would have to shower for days to eliminate the stink of shame.
Yes, let's pass on a very recent MLS MVP who had 8 goals and 16 assists last year and already knows the rigors of the league. That's smart.
Normally it would be stupid to pass on Valeri. But seeing Ben Olsen history, I can see why. People don't trust Ben to get the best out of him.
I know you are being a wise guy but the logic in his post is smart. Knowing the rigors of the league doesn’t mean much if your coach doesn’t sub and runs you into the ground. Managing minutes is one of Bens biggest flaws.
In fairness, it's not that simple. What's his salary, aging and injury history, and what else do we have in our sites for acquisition for a #10? Could we move Titi there? He's actually pretty clever, young, bright future, and moving him would open a slot for more speed on the wings. I'm the first guy to criticize the F/O but we don't know enough to weigh in on this one.
