Hello, Im from the United states and I cannot stand the NFL or MLB, i love football!!!!! My fave prem squad has to be Everton, but they are down this year and facing going down at seasons end, not good at all. I am also a HUGE fan of the third division team Bury!!! Has anyone seen them play? I have never seen them on TV or anything. I dont really know how they became my fave team, but they did. I love underdogs i guess.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

along with any helpful links or suggestions on how to furthur my footy passion online.

So you like Bury? How did you start supporting them, im curious to know. Well anyway, to answer your question, i have seen them play live a few times over the years, at there ground, Gigg Lane, or at Blackpools ground, Bloomfield Road. Over the last few years, if i remember correctly they have been promoted to Division 2, did well for a couple of seasons in that division (they may of got propmoted to Div 1 aswell, not sure) then unfortunatley went back to Division 3 where they have had limited success since. They have also had there money worries, with administration looming now and again. Bury also have Andy Preece as player/manager, i think he is great, he used to play for Blackpool but was forced out by a previous chairmen because he was the highest earner, even though he said he would take a paycut they still bombed him out and he has been at Bury ever since. Andy Preece - Class Act.

    my fave club

well...how i came to back them is kind of strange. First off i love underdogs and teams in the 3rd division will always find me rooting for them in the cup, or whenever they play a prem teeam. And Bury caught my eye because of preence, the player manager. Not to mention they have been around since the very early 1900's history is a big part of that team.

And another big part is that here in the USA, there is a PC game called FIFA 2004 and this year Bury is represented on it. So with me at the helm, i am going to take them out of div 3 and straight to the prem. haha

I have seen Bury play a couple of times, but not many.

I have also visited their ground, Gigg Lane, although unfortunately not on a match day. As I recall, it is next door to the town's cemetery.

If you like underdogs, you couldn't do much better!!

I've been to see them a few times this season as it's only a few miles down the road from my girlfriend's place. She can go shopping and I'll watch the football :D

    PREECE SACKED

Andy Preece was today sacked as Bury player/manager. It is said to be by mutual agreement and is also a cost cutting move, with Graham Barrow taking over in the role of caretaker manager for the forseeable futre.

A club statement said: " This action has been necessitated by the need to make a significant reduction in expendicture in this finacial year".

I saw them lose 0-3 to QPR at Loftus Road in Division Two in January '02 before Bury was relegated.

I thought I read that Bury was the smallest town with a team above the Conference level. Is that right? If so, fair play to them and good luck. Hope you can get over there sometime and see them in person.
