A proper LB. Anyone? https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...wrence-requests-trade-away-new-york-red-bulls "Lawrence, 27, joined the Red Bulls from Jamaican club Harbour View FC in early 2015. The left back has been regarded as one of the best in his position — in MLS and perhaps in Concacaf overall — throughout his stint stateside, culminating in an MLS Best XI selection in 2018 and an MLS All-Star selection in 2019, while winning two Supporters' Shields. The Jamaican national team player also has extensive experience on the international stage, including at the Copa America and back-to-back Concacaf Gold Cup finalist finishes in 2015 and 2017."
Yes, I sure like this player. Not sure who fits Almeyda's plan and how. I wish we could have gone for Lletget - local boy who kinda does it all.
Justin Meram, Hillard-Arce, Juan Agudelo, Kelyn Rowe, and maybe Brek Shea i wouldnt mind kicking the tires on.
Just to clarify: I've always thought of Brek Shea as sort of the "anti-Wondo". I mean, here was a guy that was identified early as a wunderkind and never seemed to have any sort of work ethic, just sort of floating through and doing just enough. Plus, I have it on good authority that he is (or at least was during his days in Dallas) a locker-room cancer.
I'd say hard pass on all of them for two reasons. First, they are all 27 years old or older. The team already brought on two players last year in that age range. There's no reason to bring on even more when there are home grown players that could use the time instead. Second, I doubt Almeyda has any interest in reviving the careers of players he has no history with. That isn't to say Almeyda (or Fioranelli, really) would be right, necessarily, but the team has already showed a lack of interest in trading for talent within the league, and none of these guys are compelling enough to alter that position, I don't think.
I agree, if I were in charge, I’d give Justin Meram a shot. He couldn’t be worse than Fiero and Rios.
After all that talk linking Pulido to the Quakes... looks like he's going to SKC. #SportingKC reached an agreement with 28-year-old striker Alan Pulido from Liga MX's C.D. Guadalajara, according to sources. Team-record transfer fee ... by a lot. Hearing it's a four-year deal.— Sam McDowell (@SamMcDowell11) December 10, 2019 Hopefully the Quakes use that Pulido money to sign another forward... there are plenty in Latin America who are not overrated/overpaid Mexican national teamers. They'd probably have enough money left over to get a decent center back, too.
The $9.5 million @SportingKC is reported to have spent on Pulido is more than double the amount it previously spent on transfer fees in its entire 24 years. https://t.co/bxpjigMkgf— Paul Kennedy (@pkedit) December 11, 2019 Don't know if he's worth that much.
Fans need to stop making/for and accepting the excuses of the front office. Darwin Quintero, Pulido, whoever. He's 29. He only scored 8 in the run of play. That's just another excuse. It's only forgivable if they actually spent some cash on someone who is younger than 29 and scored more than 8 in the run of play. But Quakes history is they won't. We get excuses and some nobody or another homegrown 5 years from the senior squad. Gotta pay to play. To get butts in the seats and the attention of Garber.
Where was that ever said? I think the rumor was $10 million is what Chivas wanted for him, and pretty much got it.
I told a cold-calling ticket rep this afternoon that they needed to tell the higher ups that we are fed up and they need to open up the purse strings. I pointed out that they need some huge acquisitions like Espi and Pullido. If they aren't willing to put up, how can they expect us? The ticket rep sounded as fed up as we are. I imagine it would suck trying to sell season tickets to a fan base that's been bludgeoned into apathy by an owner who, in the midst of the most affluent, target-rich environment in terms of Silicon Valley corporate sponsors, can't even manage to find a replacement for our defunct stadium sponsor. Everywhere one looks, this is a landscape of crushing ineptitude. How can we expect much more of a claim to success on the field than the leagues' biggest underutilized drum? But, a perhaps it's a fitting metaphor...lots of thunder, with little to show for it. Or maybe more to the point, in a masturbatory light, lots of beating, not much ecstasy...
