I think they mean that there will not be one in BMore in 2020. So it is dead as of today (officially).
The D.C. United exhibition match presented by Events DC against the Bermuda National Team on Friday, Nov. 15 will kickoff at 6 PM ET. The match will now be live streamed via The Virgin Islands Consortium website and Facebook channel. Links for the live streams can be found below. viconsortium.com Facebook.com/viconsortium
The camera work is very choppy. I don't know how much of this I'll watch. Currently it's 1-0 to DC. I didn't see the score because I tuned in late. Gordon Wild just scored to make it 2-0. I just heard that Yow scored the first goal.
Bermuda just scored to make it 2-1 DC. I guesstimate it's around the 36th minute. 2-2 just before the half.
Tuned in late after the 2nd half started and it was 3-2 DC. The goalscorer has not been announced from what I heard. Griffin Yow just scored again to make it 4-2 DC.
It finished 4-2 DC. I am disappointed that DCU Twitter doesn't have name => number info for the DC guest players.
OK, dumb question time. I see the expansion draft is coming up soon, but DC did not submit players. The team is exempt from the draft for some reason. Can anybody tell me why? I used to always be on top of this sort of stuff.
Behind the scenes at the MLS front office: Commish: OK, the deadline's passed. Have all the franchises submitted their lists of available players? MLS FO stooge-in-suit: Well, sir, uhh, it looks like, uhh, DC United never sent theirs in. Commish: What! Why those . . . [sigh] [expletive] What a shite-circus they got going-on down there! [expletive] Never [expletive] mind. Whatever.
Jack Wilshere is being shopped around as being available for a possible MLS move when his current contract expires in 2021. Betcha that West Ham United would make him available in the January transfer window for the right amount of money. Just thinking out loud -- he's been hurt a lot but, as we learned from the Rooney experience, an Englishman with good foot accuracy can be deadly in MLS.
Just thinking out loud -- he's been hurt a lot but, as we learned from the Rooney experience, an Englishman with good foot accuracy can be deadly in MLS -- unless he's injured, or his wife is having a hissy fit, or he loses interest, or he doesn't get the calls he thinks he should, or he loses faith in the coach. Aw, screw it. We know its not going to happen in DC.
Happy Roster Decision Day, everyone! Of course, DCU has waited until the last minute to hand in their homework, b/c, why be on the front foot? It's not like HOLY CRAP IT'S PRESEASON ALREADY.
I thought I’d read that there were going to be February games with the early season schedule slanted toward games in warmer cities, but didn’t they release home openers for Miami and Nashville in March?
https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019/11/21/contract-deadline-day-2019-stay-date-all-moves-around-mls Seeing Luis Robles contract option not exercised by the Red Bulls gives me such joy. I know that doesn't necessarily mean he's gone, but still, even if there's a chance...
Out of contract and contract options not exercised include Justin Meram; Juan Agudelo; Julian Gressel; Alex Roldan; and Luis Silva(!). And, FWIW, Collin Martin.
A little surprised about Gressel. I wonder what Atlanta was looking for from him that they think they didn't get? Or maybe it was nothing like that, and they're just clearing space to bring in Eden Hazard.
I'd take Alex Roldan (even if he did go to a slightly less awesome school than his brother). Collin Martin is a hella nice guy* but I think he's too small for how he tries to play which is gonna end up leading to injuries - but he still has potential imo. Gressel is a surprise. * I may only think this because he promised my wife a jersey at the bowling-alley event when he was first signed (her maiden name is Martin) - then actually remembered one late season game when he played and came over to the seats to give it to her.
