I’d be fine with losing Argudo. We need to have better talent on the wings than him. Yes he has upside but it will be a few years before he’s consistent. Plus like someone said earlier, it would keep us from losing anyone next year.

I’d rather lose someone else or nobody but I’m not sure Argudo is a winger. He has potential and a nice tenacity about him. Would love to have a USL team he could start on

If Porter goes 4-3-3, Argudo would be perfect for the box-to-box role, as a backup / rotation player. Guess Porter sees it differently.

Clearly, Porter isn't exposing players he wants to get rid of. Just because someone's on that list doesn't mean they're not valued. Just either not valued as much as 12 other guys, plays in a position where Porter thinks we have some depth, or there's something about the player that makes Porter think it's unlikely he'll be taken in the draft. Fact is, everyone on that list who's under contract will still be a Crew player after the draft except for one person (assuming we're one of the ten teams who lose a player.

    Argudo
    Francis
    Josh Williams
    R Williams
    Jimenez
    Kempin

Other than these 6 guys it would be a favor if someone took a guy in the draft . I would be so happy if they took Mokhtar ! Anyways These 6 guys as of now would be our bench players along with Mokhtar .

Kempin - might be a blessing in disguise to force us to find another back up

Jiminez brings versatility and is a good veteran presence

Josh - a veteran and leader solid 4th CB option

Francis- left footed back up would need to be replaced . We have plenty of guys who can play LB but Keita would be the only left footed defender that could spell Milton who is coming off a injury.

R Williams - like the way he plays but he won’t get a lot of opportunities here

Argudo - seems the most logical to be taken but has not settled into a position where he can excel and is all hustle and potential

I really don’t think we should lose any player but if we do it really won’t be a big deal

I still don’t think Porter is in fact the final decision maker on these things.

I assume you're right. To hear Bez talk about the process in Toronto, it seemed like a highly collaborative one between him and Vanney (and sometimes other members of the coaching staff). I'd guess it's similar here.

All our "starters" were protected. Keita was not but he is exempt. Lalas instead (and as Bill points out, he may start next year anyway). Assuming we bring in a DP CAM, Santos/Diaz are the starting wings. The two projected reserves who were protected were Artur & Cadden.

If we loose a FB (Jimenez/Francis) that would suck, but we woukd still have the other + Milton, Harrison, and Cadden. Plus Maloney if we feel we need to.

If we loose a wing (Argudo/Mokhtar) we still have the other and some of the FBs could play more advanced (Jimenez). Still a bit thin here in terms of production. But we will have 3 guys at worst.

If we keep Lalas (big if), Williams is likely the #4/#3 CB (is Porter a RCB/LCB guy?). Regardless, we should have 3 options here if we choose.

We have Zardes + JJ protected up front. Hamilton's status puzzles me. But if Romario gets picked, we have options.

    We have 3 CMs protected.

Bottom line, we may lose a nice piece, but cannot lose a core piece.

Agreed I’m just saying Argudo is the best player on the list of players exposed and I hope Mokhtar is taken because it would help us

We'll supposedly know the results tomorrow at 5 pm.

Personally I find it hard to believe that the MLS comm shop gerbils are still around at 5:01 so I have to think it'll be Wednesday am sometime.

Although I did once have a long and unpleasant conversation with someone there who had been a friend at around 7 pm one night and we've never spoken since. Maybe my use of the term " spineless, gutless crapweasels" had something to do with it.

I am in the minority but I dont think Argudo is someone a title challenging team should be playing. If we want to get to that level we have to upgrade those positions.

I was not a fan of Argudo. He tried, not that it actually mattered, but he really did try.

Oddly, I was thinking of my wife while writing that reply too. She says something very similar to me.

    I lucky for many reasons.

I also get “the look” when I’ve done too much “trying”.

I've never started a poll in my life and wouldn't know where to begin. (It's probably very easy but I'm a simple man)

Anyway, maybe someone could start a poll on who from the Crew gets drafted today. I guess one choice has to be "none" as well.

Correct pickers get all the Kyle Crew Brew they can hold.

The correct answer is whoever Crew fans will overreact the most to losing... I've seen multiple people on Twitter and Reddit saying they would be DEVASTATED if we lost Josh Williams...DEVASTATED, imagine.

I'd be devastated for Josh Williams. Myself? Not so much.

I have kind of started to think maybe I do want someone drafted this year. If only one selection can be made per team, means 10 teams will be exempt from next year's. You just *know* with 10 teams gone Austin will have less choice thus more inclined to take a player from the Crew's roster. Plus, I would like to think we have an even better roster next year that someone would get plucked from to see the wonders of the 'second downtown'.

Here's the Crew site article about the draft. Should be no surprise whatsoever that it slightly contradicts earlier lists:

    https://www.columbuscrewsc.com/post...t-how-it-works-who-protected-selection-nov-19

    Says this:

And links to the list we've already seen about exposed players:

    Hamilton appears on neither list.

Re: the 14-person list of protected players, teams can protect 12, but our list also includes two players who we know are draft exempt: Keita and JJ Williams.

Which means that it appears Cadden does seem to be eligible for this draft, and had to be either protected or left exposed. Hamilton? Who the hell knows? Maybe he's now available for selection. But his name sure as hell should show up somewhere.

I also am not really sure why we exposed Opoku, who still should be GA, and therefore draft exempt, right? I wonder if they just don't see him as having a future here and thought, maybe, a GA player on that list might be attractive, and might allow us to not lose a different player? I have no idea.
