Yes he did. He was also a pretty good sport after the game when he came back and picked up his stuff. The supporters behind the goal gave him some respectful clapping and he gave a fist bump to one of the guys. It was a pretty freak goal but it went in. I was 10 feet away and thought it didn't go in from the angle it was heading towards goal. Salgado on the other hand was not very respectful. Flipped off the fans, grabbed his crotch, shared a few expletives. He was a douche after the game as well. It got rather chippy. Hopefully the Monarchs will do well in Louisville.
The thread title prolly needs updating, but below is a link to the thread. https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/real-monarchs-2018-season.2082087/
Curious about the Monarchs and development? Here's an overview of the team's approach on the eve of the USL Championship from MLSSoccer.com.
DLH chartered a plane and is taking every RMSLC staffer, plus Wasatch Legion members, sponsors and others along with the team to the USL Championship Final in Louisville.
Douglas Martinez is suspended for this one, which does not surprise me. He went off the rails at the very end of the conference final last week and probably should have been red carded then and there. It was unnecessary and foolish, and has cost his team going into this game.
Fairly skillful goal from Erik Holt, low and driven from about 20 yards out and to the near post. 1-1 after 25.
Monarchs really settled down after the first fifteen minutes, and have a lead - 2-1 - at the half. Good game and fun to watch so far.
This happened not far from where I was sitting and I immediately said "he's gone". Shocked he dodged the red and the suspension is justified.
Oh, my, what a run from Schmitt, who could have sealed it on the field he played on in college. Corner on the follow-up shot.
There's the third. Great goal from the outside of the box from Noah Powder. Good patience on that build-up. Two Monarchs waiting for the rebound too, in case one came.
Nasty, nasty tackle - should be a red here at the end of the game on Louisville. Not even a yellow though? Okay, there's a yellow.
Yay! I watched the game and it seemed to me that the ref missed a number of calls. Isn't VAR nice to have?
Fun match to watch, even on a tape delay. Congratulations Monarchs! So who on this team can move to the first team?
Enlighten/humor me: how is the head coaching job not Jamison's (assuming he wants it)? You can't really do much better than he's done, and I don't get the feeling he's exactly playing with a stacked team. I can get behind the idea that the Monarchs should be more of a development team for RSL, but right now, it is what it is and Olave has done a good job with what he was given.
Of all our "interim" people, Jamison is easily the one I'm most comfortable with getting the full-time job. And maybe we'll finally stop hearing people wanting Briggs back.
From the Trib last week: Jamison Olave has led the Real Monarchs to the USL championship game; Is that enough to land the permanent head coaching position?
