I repeat what I said about Auba's supposed like of a similar post... I find it VERY hard to imagine Emi or any other professional player doing this. I continue to assume these are faked, photoshopped posts.
Kike Marin is saying that Emery has been given until Christmas to turn things around. There's no reason to believe he can turn it around, and given the fixtures between now and then, we could be easily 12 points out of top four. That would make any manager change moot AND we'd lose key players due to no CL next summer. If this is the strategy, Raul and Edu should be flushed out with the liquid shits
Why would you assume that? This is 2019 the world has changed man, young guys and young people communicate this way professionals or not. How do they express frustrations or discontent by liking things passively aggressively on social media. Or like Ozil sending a laughing pic about Emery on twitter. This is the world we live in. Since this is multiple players liking posts calling for Emery sacking (including Laca) I assume this sentiment is widespread on the team. Literally in a year and a half Emery has killed the footballing identity of Arsenal football let alone the disastrous results. That will have many players upset, nobody joined Arsenal thinking we would play or preform like a relegation type squad.
eh? e.g. Gundawg liked patriotic bullshit of turkish players saluting after the kurdish invasion IMO some players are pretty thick
When your singular focus is on becoming a professional athlete, no matter what the sport, it doesn't leave much time for anything else.
Publicly bad-mouthing your boss or your employer is still considered a bad move. Even in 2019. And I think this goes at least if not more for pro athletes. Players are almost universally "smart" enough to cover their mouths when they swear on TV. I assume that "smartness" would also apply to social media likes that dis their management. But as you say, I could be giving them too much credit. But I hope not.
To be fair I had us done about 4 games into the season. You could see no fluid play, we weren't bailed out by the freak goal conversion of last season, and tactically we played like a team in 14th rather than a team pushing for top 4. They do that when they are talking tactics too. A teammate of mine used to do that for every set piece when we were in the lower leagues. Sometimes he would just tell me a joke, no strategy. One day I asked him why he does this since the matches we played weren't televised, and he said it makes the GKs skittish.
Yep - as we noted at the time, the Emery narrative was written by some freakish goal version in his first 20 odd games Then things reverted I guess the excitement of the summer created the possibility that with better players, Arsenal would do better, but actually the performances are getting worse. The idea he will turn this around before xmas is laughable.
I have to keep repeating this: 7 wins in 19 premier league matches! The evidence is clear. We have a half season’s worth of results that say we are performing at lower midtable levels. We have a season and a quarter of performances that show we are a lower level midtable team. If they need Christmas to figure this out than the leadership is clearly a disaster as well and we are in a lot of trouble going forward.
Funny. And sure, sometimes they conceal for tactical reasons, like doubles tennis players do. But I'm not talking about that. I'm talking more about when they are talking to one of their mates, who is often on the opposing team, and they're using "salty" language, which is deemed inappropriate for public consumption.
This just doesn't square with reality. You'll see a player tell the ref to fvck off in plain view pretty much every match. They don't cover their mouths because of swearing.
Sure, but it's more nuanced than that. The world seemingly has become numb to seeing players say F-off to officials. I think it's ludicrous that they let them get away with that, but that's another story. When 2 mates from opposing teams get together on the pitch after the match, and have glint in their eye, I'm quite sure they're not talking tactics. Whatever they're saying is certainly not meant for public consumption. I bet part of that is "salty" language, but it could also be just private details they want to keep private. But I guess we'll never know unless players start coming out and revealing what kind of things they say behind their hands. I'm not holding my breath. So back to the matter at hand... Most recent reports are that Emery has been given 1 more month to turn things around. But who amongst us thinks he can perform a miracle turn-around in that time frame, which would make us want to retain him to season's end?!
Yeah, but who amongst us thinks we still have a real chance of playing in CL next year?! Edit: I should say that myself, I'm assuming that we're stuck with Emery a little while longer and then after that it'll probably be Freddie as caretaker, rather than someone "big" like Allegri coming to our rescue by December.
