We're past the posted deadline, but have 13 minutes until the first two games begin, so if any of you out there still want to predict and can beat the first games' start time of 5:00 pm Eastern Time, I'll get you into the contest.
And ... the games have begun and the entries are closed. We have 27 human entries, plus the Committee (sounds like something from Brave New World), plus 4 machine entries, for a total of 32 competitors. Let the Wild Rumpus Begin!
So far my Xavier and USF upset picks have panned out. But what a let down by Rutgers; their lose busted 2 predictions. I picked Vanderbilt over Clemson, but losing in PK's on the road is respectable.
I didn't know much about Rutgers, but Chris Henderson had them as his sleeper, posted an hour before their game, lol. I had Clemson winning, ACC member, no other reason really. Also I dont remember, historically Vandy being good at soccer.
I'll be happy if Texas Tech can pull out this close one against Pepperdine. Tied at 2 in the second OT. EDIT: Texas Tech advances on PK's 4-3. ❌ MADISON. WHITE. ❌pic.twitter.com/7RysNcttrY— Texas Tech Soccer (@TexasTechSoccer) November 16, 2019
With all of today's games completed except for Stanford v Prairie View, and with Stanford scoring at the rate of a goal every 5 minutes, I think it's safe to assume today's results all are in. So, here are the standings heading into tomorrow's games. [Please check your scores to see if they're correct, as there's always the possibility of data entry errors.] The Round 1 Score is 1 point per correct prediction. There were 18 games today.
Stanford is playing like they have to score 20 goals or its sprints till you drop. Why on earth are starters in up 12 goals...or 8 goals, or 6?
All the predictions had Rutgers winning, so I guess this result qualifies as a true upset. But, quite a few don't have Rutgers winning in the 2nd round, so there are points to be lost there by those who have Rutgers winning there too -- and even more by those who have Rutgers winning in the 3rd round.
I'm not one to usually feel too uncomfortable with teams running up the score.... but Stanford, damn. Give them a break. 7 goals in the second half, including from Macario in the 78th minute. What is she even doing on the pitch then with them up 13-0?
#1 That is poor sportsmanship by Ratcliffe. #2 Imagine the blow back had a starter been injured? #3 Full blown conniption if that starter was Macario. #4 Just plain stupid, but apparently they got away with it. ps In that game, Macario had 4 goals and 5 assists. That's 17 points right? That must be some kind of record.
stanford acting like they are the USWNT. Just wait until they not only beat their lesser talented opponents but go against.......
Vandy hit the crossbar late in game and then again in OT--and then had a PK to win it when the game went to PKs, and the Vandy player completely futzed the kick. Three minutes later, they were out. Tough!
I agree, very Tough. In both this game and Texas Tech v Pepperdine, the team ultimately eliminated was up a goal in the PKs and couldn't hold the lead.
Stanford coach sending a message to ncaa. Enough with the 64 team charade. 8 teams only. Similar to the other futbol.
