good for him! up we go into the wild blue yonder - crash!!! hahaha I wonder who out there will get that?
While this is obviously great news in many ways, it also means essentially that the English road to success has come to an end. I guess without the experience at Fulham his chances of getting a scholarship would perhaps be a bit lower, but still... Anyway, good for him. I'm sure he'll do well...
I doubt it. He's listed on a Bethesda Academy roster last December: https://www.usyouthsoccer.org/tourn...team/56460/eventgroup/4082/bethesdaacademymd/
Considering the AFA does not give athletic scholarships, I imagine this has more to do with the young man's career goals and less to do with what his soccer skill can earn him. He probably could have gone to a different college program or even tried to make it in a foreign academy if he wanted to pursue a future career in the sport.
It's a rare example of a program that pays its athletes and gives them a full scholarship. Of course, all the academy students get paid to be there, even if they aren't athletes.
