So from where I sit, it appears there are only three teams who, if they get upset in their conference tournament, would shrink the cut-off line for at-large bids, which is currently 35 (Memphis).

In a Missouri Valley semifinal, No. 11 Missouri State (16-0-0) faces 108. Drake. If MSU avoids an upset in the semis, they'll face the winner of 147. Bradley and 41. Illinois-Chicago, the latter of which could be a real threat. Missouri State is the only unbeaten team in the country so they're getting a bid even if they're upset in their conference tournament. But if they lose, that'll cost some other team a bid.

In the America East final, No. 17 New Hampshire (13-1-3) faces 61. Hartford. If UNH loses, they'll still get a bit so that would shrink the cut-line.

In the Sun Belt finals, No. 26. Central Arkansas (10-6-1) faces. 80. Georgia State and if they win UCA will play the winner of 53. Appalachian State and 70. Coastal Carolina. None of those are slam dunks.

In all the other tournaments, the teams still alive are either going to get a bid win or lose, or they will send only one team to the NCAA Tournament and this won't impact the cut-line.

So right now, 33. Syracuse, 34. NC State and 35. Memphis are huge fans of MSU, UNH and UCA!

The A10 semi's at the lowest seed's field, Fordham. Which is cool for Rams because the league RPI and SOS sucks. VCU which has only 1 league loss has an RPI of like 118? So...I guess this is a one team --tourny winner--NCAA bid league. Rams play rams at 1pm friday.in first semi.

I looked at the 16 teams straddling the cut line, and compared them as best as I could against the following stated criteria:

The following criteria shall be employed by a governing sports committee in selecting participants for NCAA championships competition:
    ● Won-lost record;
    ● Strength of schedule; and
    ● Eligibility and availability of student-athletes for NCAA championships.

In addition to Bylaw 31.3.3, the Men’s Soccer Committee shall consider the following criteria in the selection of at-large teams for the men’s soccer championship (not necessarily in priority order):
    ● Adjusted Rating Percentage Index (RPI), which includes:
    - Won-lost-tied record (25%).
    - Opponents’ strength of schedule (50%).
    - Opponents’ opponents’ strength of schedule (25%).
    - Bonus/penalty system.
    ● Head-to-head competition.
    ● Results versus common opponents.
    ● Strength and results against nonconference opponents.
    ● Results against teams already selected (including automatic qualifiers with an RPI of 1-75).
    ● Late-season performance in last eight games (strength and results).
    ● Strength and results against conference opponents.

Recommendations provided by regional advisory committees also shall be considered by the Men’s Soccer Committee. Coaches’ polls and/or any other outside polls or rankings are not used as a criterion by the Men’s Soccer Committee for selection purposes.

Alright, here are the 16 teams straddling the cut line...

    28 Boston College (8-5-3)
    29 Michigan (10-4-4)
    30 South Florida (10-6-1)
    31 FIU (10-2-5)
    32 Pittsburgh (9-7-2)
    33 Syracuse (6-6-5)
    34 NC State (9-6-3)
    35 Memphis (10-7-0)
    38 Temple (8-8-2)
    39 Cal State Fullerton (12-7-1)
    41 Loyola Chicago (10-4-3)
    43 North Carolina (7-7-4)
    44 UC Irvine (7-7-5)
    45 Albany (N.Y.) (9-7-1)
    46 Oregon State (8-5-2)
    47 High Point (13-6-0)

The one team from below the line that consistently does above average in comparisons is UC Irvine. The Anteaters have the 3rd-best SOS of the group at 14, have the 4th-best non-conference SOS, have wins vs. probable tournament teams UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara and also won at #48 Creighton. They played just one game against a team ranked worse than 100! Irvine also finished 3rd in the 5th-ranked conference in the country.

Above the line, Memphis is probably the most vulnerable. They have the win at #7 SMU and a home win vs. #37 Campbell. But they lost a neutral-site game to #106 Mercer, played 7 of their 17 games against triple-digit RPI teams and lost 5 of their last 7 overall.

Pitt, Syracuse and NC State are bunched up just above Memphis. When it gets down to the last few teams, a tiebreaker could be head-to-head. Pitt defeated NC State and drew with SU. Syracuse defeated NC State. Or the tiebreaker could be conference record, incl. ACC tourney play. Pitt went 5-4-1, NC State 4-5-1 and Syracuse was 2-5-3. In non-conference SOS, Syracuse was 4-1-2 with an SOS of 39, NC State was 5-1-2 with an SOS of 86 while Pitt was 4-3-1 with an SOS of 102. If it came down to two spots, who would you take of the three?

    Davis 0-0 UCSB at halftime.

Davis is winning the stats, 8 shots to 1, 3 to 1 SOG.

Overflow crowd with temporary stands and standing room barriers on one end. There is also a temporary lighting tower near the goal on that end, apparently for lighting if the game goes to kicks.

The announcer said that the AD announced he would provide "notes' at the field for students that want to cut class to see the game.

Davis scored on a nice dribbling run early in the second half and then cemented the win with an open-net goal from UCSB's corner kick with 15 seconds remaining.

    Davis 2-0 UCSB

    Big stealing update

    AMERICA EAST CONFERENCE
New Hampshire (19) hosts Hartford (65) in the championship. UNH is solidly in the tournament, and Albany (47) and Vermont (51) are too far below the cut line of 34/35 to be considered. The Hawks lost 5-0 to the Wildcats just three weeks ago, but are still a threat to bubble teams everywhere. I'm downgrading due to the weakness of the opponent...Danger level: HIGH

    AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
UCF (3) and SMU (8) survived their semifinal matches and meet in Saturday's title match. The trio of South Florida (32), Memphis (35) and Temple (36) are very bubbly. No bid stealers, though. Danger level: LOW

    ATLANTIC COAST CONFERENCE
Virginia (1) vs. Clemson (4) for the championship. No bids to be stolen. Bubbling just above the cut line are Syracuse (30), Pitt (31) and NC State (34). North Carolina (41) is probably out. Danger level: LOW

    BIG EAST CONFERENCE
No changes, as the semifinalists were all in the top 25. Providence (14) is a mild surprise in the title game to face Georgetown (2). Danger level: LOW

    BIG SOUTH CONFERENCE
The top two seeds make it to the final in Campbell (38) and High Point (46), who will help each other's SOS by playing each other again. If High Point advances, is Campbell in? What if it's a draw, and it goes to PK's? I'm tempted to upgrade, but my gut tells me winner advances and loser is done. Danger level: HIGH

    BIG TEN CONFERENCE
Four bid-conference, with Michigan (27) vs. Indiana (11) in the final. Danger level: LOW

    BIG WEST CONFERENCE
UC Davis (18) won the title match convincingly, and may have an argument for a national seed. UC Santa Barbara (25) will host a 1st-round match. Cal State Fullerton (39) and UC Irvine (44) are below the cut line. Irvine has very good internal RPI numbers that may win the day. Danger level: MODERATE

    COLONIAL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION
James Madison (43) at UNCW (56). This still looks like a winner-take-all-match, but bubblers are on JMU's side just in case. Danger level: MODERATE

    CONFERENCE USA
Charlotte (21) locked up a bid with a semifinal win. Marshall (12) will oppose the 49ers. Semifinal loser Kentucky (20) is also in. I made a case earlier in the week that FIU (33) should be worried, and they lost to drop to the penultimate team on the bubble. I'm downgrading this conference because it's gone from bid stealing to possible bid losing. Danger level: MODERATE

    MID-AMERICAN
Western Michigan (42) was just below the cut line before a semifinal loss to the last-place team in the conference. No other team is worthy of an at-large. I don't expect the Committee to take WMU, but we'll keep them in our thoughts. Danger level: MODERATE

    MISSOURI VALLEY
Loyola Chicago (40) is in the mix, while Missouri State (10) is still undefeated. If Mo-State runs the table, Loyola's probably out. Danger level: EXTREME

    SUN BELT
Central Arkansas (29) went ahead and lost in its first game, and it was to the last-place team. They are not safe, but could be chosen as an at-large...making either Georgia State or Coastal Carolina a bid stealer. Danger level: EXTREME

    WESTERN ATHLETIC
Seattle (38) has survived so far, but likely needs to defeat Utah Valley (90) to advance to the NCAA Tournament. Danger level: HIGH
