Rino has publicly taken the blame for it. He refused to take money that was contractually owed to him over it. He's also turned down numerous jobs in Serie A .

Should have happened after the Orlando game. Actually earlier than that, but that's another discussion.

Because the MLS season just ended.

Nelson will be quietly marginalized, then euthanized as well.

My comparison is that he's basically soccer's Ozzie Guillen.
    Chicago needs another Ozzie.

  7. Was it Gattuso with the comment in the last couple of weeks - something like (Milan) used to get better players, now we get them from Sassuolo?

  8. As much as we'd love Gattuso prowling the Soldier Field sideline next year, he'd strangle someone before the preseason was over.

Well, my feelings on that would depend on who he strangled.

It is confirmed by the Sun Times.

    The "bright one" comes through.

    https://chicago.suntimes.com/soccer...c-nelson-rodriguez-joe-mansueto-soldier-field

    Article is short and sweet:

Veljko Paunovic won’t be back after all.

The Sun-Times has confirmed a report that Paunovic has been sacked after four seasons. Over his time in Chicago, Paunovic made one postseason appearance.

Throughout the offseason, Joe Mansueto had stated his belief in Paunovic and president/general manager Nelson Rodriguez, but left himself room to evaluate what he had.

Paunovic had been cited by players, notably Nicolas Gaitan, as a reason they joined the Fire. However, Paunovic’s tactics and man-management were questionable, and other than the 2017 season, the Fire failed to gain traction under his leadership.

    This story will be updated.

  11. I said Billy Martin, but that was long before the lad's time.

  12. Except it could be anyone.

  13. He directed any money owed him be paid to his assistants.

Sure, and having seats in the first row for 2020...it could be ME!:eek::eek:

Oh, wait, I think I am on the opposite side as the players. I'm safe.

Could we resign "manbun" for the preseason and offer him up for a strangling?

Gattuso could "get it out of his system" and manbun, well, is manbun. It might do him some good.

  16. Looks like NR will remain, but to work on non-soccer related business.

Is agitating supporters groups a soccer or non-soccer role?

For the past four years, it has been a soccer role.
Starting this/next week, that will clearly be a non-soccer role. It will be a "business" role.

as long as he stays away from the fans, the roster, and the backroom staff, Nelson may be an asset for the club. MLS clearly loves him, maybe he can get us some of that sweet sweet LA "rules are for little teams" dosh.

If the folks from the ISA pipe up with a "Yeah, he has absolutely no roll in our stuff and things are better" and he's definitely out of soccer/player decisions, then I'll ponder reversing my current "he needs to be gone years ago" position.
