I think its simply time for Akale to find another opportunity. If its not going to work for him at Villarreal (for whatever reason) then its time to move on. I'm sure Minnesota would be interested at the right price. There are plenty of examples of Akale-like players fading away into the abyss (Junior Flores and company). There are also examples of these types of players moving to another club and finding success. Lletget is of course one of the best. He was getting USMNT buzz shortly after he returned to MLS and actually playing first team games.
I think the big think with Akale is he gets his Spanish residency status if he completes this season at Villa, so through May. After that he could count as domestic for any club in Spain so he can catch on at a 2nd division club and be fine. Not making it a Villa isn't an indictment.
I’m puzzled how he has never received a Cameroon passport via his father, which counts him as domestic in Spain (and France).
OK I do see it listed ESPN3 and also ESPN Deportes. It wasn't in the larger list of games available though. Not convinced. We'll see.
The Brazil game tomorrow appears to start at 12:15 eastern (that is when espn3's cover is scheduled to start). The ESPN online schedule and the AFA list the other semifinal as Argentina vs. the Canary Islands instead of Argentina vs. Chile as per the original press release. Argentina roster (which includes Valentin Castellanos of NYCFC and Ezquiel Barco of Atlanta United).
I really hope some of our youngster really impress. Not just in terms of Olympic Qualifying, but I really believe, as insane as this sounds, that the plan Earnie has is that young players come into the senior team through the U23s. That there's a path and he's going to create it, come hell or high water. We've seen Dest jump it, and Pomykal/Aaronson get a small taste ... so maybe I am overthinking (and Lewis and others got minutes). But I just wonder if one reason why we haven't seen Toye or Ebobisse or Sabbi is because they've been slated for the U23s and they will get their chance there. If Ledezma or someone else can blow Kreis away, I think they will get a quick look at the senior level.
I don't think there's any question. By my count, 22 players eligible for the U23 team have gotten a USMNT callup this year alone.
I think so, at least for some things, for a while. The game is now listed on Comcast guide at 9 AM PST on ESPN Deportes if you get that. Impressively, my DVR was already preset to record. So, I guess yea Comcast.
There's a slight difference. ESPN+ has a bunch of games and costs $5/month. ESPN3 has a bunch of games that have either screened on ESPN channels or were alternates. You access them both in a similar place -- watchespn.com or apps -- but sometimes the games that were on ESPN, or, like this one, ESPN Deportes, aren't available on ESPN+. You sometimes have to have an ESPN channel subscription. Or that's the way it used to be, at least.
I don't think you can get the ESPN3 games without a cable subscription; even if you pay for ESPN+. A bit nuts. But I guess ESPN3 is the streaming of games that ESPN has over the air rights to and ESPN+ is digital rights only. But, I really don't understand it.
ESPN3 used to be called WatchESPN back in the day, and was only available to cable subscribers through your cable company. For example, when I wanted to watch anything, it always verified that I was a Verizon FIOS subscriber first. (It would work the same way for Cox, Comcast, or any other subscribers, too.
So it's listed there at 9:15 but no link. Then I go to upcoming and the game isn't there. Anyone have ESPN3 going already that can help out? I have Deportes on so I'll watch, but do prefer inglés edit - Link is there now, not working yet but hopefully will in three minutes.
Here's the xi (not in love w/ it): Ebobisse; Lewis, Lennon; Ledezma, Mihailovic, Dotson; Vines, Glad, McKenzie, Herrera; Freese soft up the middle against Brasil, may be hard to play out, questionable talent selection. A lot may be on the feet of Lewis playing Rambo.
