I agree. But famalicao players such as Lameiras deserve to be considered for the Seleccao.

Btw I’m not a sporting fan.
    Just a Portugal fan.

Eibar lost 3-0 to Barcelona but I watched the game and Paulo Oliveira played fairly well.

Felix picked up an injury today could be out for 3-4 weeks. Will likely miss the next Portugal matches.

    Goncalo Paciencia scored
    Two for Frankfurt yesterday.

Next game against Lithuania, I would go:

    ——————-Patricio—————
    Semedo——Fonte—Dias——Cancelo
    —————-Danilo—Neves————-
    Bernardo—————————CR7
    —————-Paciencia—-AS9

Portugal's main problem has been the defense. Pepe is no longer a NT-tier player, and hasn't been for a while. During his prime, he was no doubt the best FB Portugal ever had, but he's an embarrassment now. FS needs to stop calling him and give Domingos Duarte, Ferro, Paulo Oliveira, and why not Edge Ié a chance.

Paciencia was really impressive yesterday. He showed great strength to hold off a defender and composure to finish the first goal, then calmly scored a PK (that he earned with shot stopped by a handball), and also had a beautiful heel-flick for an assist ruled just offside.

He's no Usain Bolt, but he has been good and scored goals all season. Portugal could really use a true striker on the pitch right now, especially against weaker sides like the two it has to beat next month.

I agree. That’s why we should play my lineup. We need to score goals against Lithuania and Luxembourg.

When I rewatched the Ukraine game, I really felt that we lacked presence in the area. We should have subbed on Andre Silva as CR7 was being crowded out.

I would be perfectly find giving Paciencia a shot, but, also on a short leash..

given how urgent these next two games are.. im generally against experimenting with players and tactics in these situations, but the inclusion of a true in the box type strike is hardly messing with tactics.

Not sure i would use 2 DM's in this situation although given Neves ability and willingness to shoot from distance, may not be the worst thing.

Considering that Felix is on the Balon Dor list it’s incredible how off the mark you guys are.

Pepe is one of the top CB we ever had, but between him and Ricardo Carvalho I'm not sure I'd pick Pepe.

Both great servants to the National team but considering his performance at Euro 2016 I’d go Pepe

I dont fully understand some of these selections. I guess thats why i am not the trainer of the NT, right? Maybe im not supposed to get them.

Delighted to see Joao Mario included as he has been terrific for locomotive. I think he will be back to his stellar euro 2016 form shortly. Also, well deserved call up for Paciencia who has been the revelation of the bundesliga during the early stages of the current campaign,

To get the most out of Joao Mario, he should be playing in the number 10 position.

My starting eleven based on the squad call-ups.

I would run a 4-1-2-1-1 diamond type formation with CR7 in a free role behind Paciencia who has the physicality to outmuscle Lithuanian and Luxembourgese defenders . Pizzi and Bernardo’s work rate in midfield will be important. Joao Mario with freedom to roam and use his innate talent to thread through balls to Ronaldo and Paciencia

Semedo and Guerreiro to push up as wingbacks when in possession .

    ————————Danilo———————-
    —————-B.Silva———Pizzi———-
    ———————-J.Mario——————-

I agree with Santos this time. I have coached some elite level youth teams and a lot of it to be honest comes from day to day dealings with the players and intuition.

I’ve had parents of rich kids even try to pay me under the table to play their son, and I have declined.

Not really big losses at all considering we will be playing farmer teams. Would be good games to start Pizzi and Bruno Fernandes who specialize in these types of matches

That was a great finish on Ronaldo's 2nd goal. He's looking good, but then again we're playing Lithuania lol
