Love the quotes from Jona. He's my favorite player on the team right now (which results in a bit of a problem when he plays against the USMNT!).
Would you take Pedro (FC Barca, Chelsea) as an upgrade to Romain on the right? Out of contract next summer, has been in and out of the 18 at Chelsea...
Ha. I skipped it to spend time with family. I got a text from MLS, while walking at the San Diego Zoo safari park near the Australian exhibit, announcing who won.
A report that is indicating that the Galaxy didn’t pick up the purchase option on Favio Alvarez. No confirmation from us, but this wouldn’t baffle anyone. Felt like DTK had written keeping him in the Exit Interviews. #LAGalaxy #MLS https://t.co/rZgfKRMm62— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) November 11, 2019 Favio Alvarez won't be back with the Galaxy. Clealry not a bad player, who had his moments and I won't question his effort on the field. But "big" salary, international status, decent but not oustanding numbers (3 goals and 5 assists in 1272 minutes), with surely complicated and maybe costly maneuvers to bring him back to LA... I understand he's gone. Good luck in the future, Favio!
NEWS | #LAGalaxy acquire General Allocation Money in trade with @NashvilleSC for defender Dave Romney: https://t.co/AjzK97lzT3 pic.twitter.com/OTG4JmxU09— LA Galaxy (@LAGalaxy) November 12, 2019 225k in GAM (+ potential 50k) is good business for Romney. Thank you for everything Dave!
Reports out of Italy have the Galaxy in the lead for Zlatan at two years and $15 million. That sounds like a one year deal at possibly a slight raise from his current salary, plus a one year option with another slight raise, but it could be two years guaranteed. Two more years of #zLAtan? A report says Galaxy leading the way for Ibra, who doesn't think Bologna is big enough for him; Will AC Milan call? https://t.co/36xJiNhZOI— NBC Sports Soccer (@NBCSportsSoccer) November 12, 2019
Unless we can get someone like Suarez, Aguero, or someone of that caliber, we are best off with ibra. Ibra will still get 30+ goals next season especially with Pavon.
Oh God, with a full season of a healthy Romain and Pavon, the amount of goals Ibra would get would be scary. He'd easily decimate this years record. However this can only happen if the man has at least one more serious year left in him. If any of this is true, he might be looking to go out like Beckham did. One last ride in LA, then a decline on the 2nd year so he can play the 5 month backend of another teams season. He'd get 2 years worth of pay for 1 years worth of play, and a potential 5 month salary from an other team that is willing to bring him in as a powerful bench option only. That'd be a nice final payday for the dude; especially if the 15 million is true, as that number is a little on the high side if you ask me. Beckham only got 4 million in his deal and then he donated his PSG check to charity. I wonder if Ibra would do the same? It's a tax write off regardless. I would not doubt this may all be true as it was Beckham that convinced him that coming to MLS was a good idea in the first place as Ibra was on that PSG team during those 5 months.
I'm not so sure of that. Truly outstanding goal scoring seasons usually regress toward the mean. It's hard to score more than 30 goals in a season but it's pretty easy to score fewer. Also aging effects. Ibra relies more on strength and skill and less on quickness compared to most forwards. So that has helped him age well. But even the Lion isn't completely immune to father time and he will be 39 by the time 2020 playoffs come around. So keeping Ibra will be a gamble. If we do keep him and he stays healthy and scores 25 goals next season I will be thrilled with him. Then we just need someone else to score 15 and our defense to improve greatly and we will be Cup worthy. That's all I ask.
Some wise words from Romney : https://www.latimes.com/sports/socc...ave-romney-welcomes-trade-nashville-by-galaxy He's right. He should have started above Ciani and Skjelvik in recent years.
I think this supposed Ibra deal would be a colossal mistake. The Galaxy will not be a elite team again until the defensive side of the ledger is improved vastly. which it never will be with a 9 man defense (plus a GK). With Zlatan on the field hat's all you get.
Part of me hates losing Dave Romney. Every winning team needs hard working guys who put their ego aside and do a specific job. SInce Bruce left I am not really sure what or who the identity of this team is. I know what it's not, It's not a group of hard nosed, honest type, grit professionals. More a bunch of hired journeyman. It makes it hard as a fan to support a different group of random players every year...
Everyone knows my thoughts. I could probably be talked into another season. Two more? Huge gamble, IMO.
Dave Romney suffered through the Vagenas and Klein years as a player, we just had to do it from the sidelines. The player personnel moves must have been truly hit-your-head-on-your-locker frustrating. Not to mention the mediocre to bad coaching (cough-Curt). A credit to him that he kept his head down and survived. Sometimes it takes switching teams to get paid.
Suarez apparently is considering a move and sees LA Galaxy as a desirable destination. His contract is up in 2021, so what stops us from giving Ibra a 2 year deal where year 1 he is a DP, and year 2 he is a TAM player, but Suarez comes in and becomes the DP?
Ugh. Incredible talent and seemingly reformed, but his behavior crossed a line for me. Ibra’s on-field antics this season pale in comparison to Jaws.
This is very possible which is why I say one more serious year left in Ibra is required to pull this off. You'd need a full season of Pavon, Romain and Llegett to pick up the slack. Two of those 3 will need to get at least 10 goals and one of them will need at least 7 goals with 10 assists. That is also what I hope to see out of JDS next year as well. They have the talent to pull those stats off even in the hectic west. Health is Key but it totally can be done.
