Chris Wilder's Sheffield United have been a revelation with their innovative system of overlapping centre backs. While they are known for their attacking play, the Blades have been stingy in defence, having conceded only 8 goals in 11 league fixtures (Spurs have leaked 16 by contrast). We will be without Lamela and Vertonghen who are nursing hamstring injuries, but everyone else is avalable for selection. Could we actually win 2 games in a week?
Brilliant first half from Sheffield United, they play like we used to. I would get Dier on a yellow out of there, he was lucky not to be sent off. Poor tactics from Poch, we are trying to play out from the back with Sanchez and Dier, who keep giving the ball away.
Lucky to get a point, we were absolutely battered by a promoted side. Our players and performance were an abomination. Eric Dier is shockingly poor. The manager was as clueless as the players with his team selection and tactics.
I know you usually don't want to use a sub on a center back, but Dier should have been yanked. What was Poch thinking?
Could drop to 14th by tomorrow. I wonder if at some point we’ll be talking about avoiding the relegation zone?
<sigh> uninspired. I didn't even care that I missed the game. I want to care. I want the team to give me something to care about. Maybe that's bad of me. I don't even know.
Having Alderweireld and Eriksen on the bench, whatever the reason, and Eric Dier as your CB is a massive problem.
I think you are spot on, I mean why should the supporters care if the players don't show up to play week in week out? So far this season we have beaten Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Red Star (twice). We haven't beaten Newcastle, Brighton, Watford, Colchester and Sheffield United (and only scored 2 goals in those games, one which should have been ruled out by VAR and wasn't).
The same thing he was thinking when he brought on Wanyama for Sissoko when we were leading at Leicester. Poch is as much to blame as the players for this catastrophe.
relegation form. I rather suspect we'll start coming around during the winter - not to great, but to respectable, and hopefully really shaping up by Spring. if we're genuinely in a relegation fight, though, come the new year, Poch will surely have to go. it really is an odd shape in which we find ourselves.
Don't want to be at the club: Alderweireld, Eriksen, Aurier Want to be at the club but club or manager doesn't want them: Vertonghen, Rose, Wanyama. Want to be at the club but almost never get a game: Moura, Walker-Peters Just plain poor: Dier
The Walker-Peters situation is mystifying. I didn't think he looked that bad before he got injured. He can't even get into the 18 when there are no other right backs.
