  1. Ajax was robbed in both matches by the refs.

Since Mount went off. Since we're keeping score.

It's been a legendary game for the event betting types.

Good job to come back, but how could they not take it after it got to 4-4?

You can say... That game was ________ [any adjective] and it would probably be true. Wild and entertaining affair. I'm glad I wasted 90 mins of productivity at work for it. It was worth it :D

  9. Because they're shit and not up against an Eredivisie team down to nine?

Not sure what you would fault the ref for though.

Pulisic looked pretty gassed by the end.

Pulisic faded again. Sure wish he had Landon Donovan's lungs.

I mean he caused one penalty and then caused a 2nd yellow that lead to an abraham shot at goal that caused ANOTHER 2nd yellow and a penalty kick. lol

Pulisic had a great 1st half.

Very quiet in the 2nd half. Made a few too many error passes, one which lead to a counter and goal. He can barely run any more late in 2nd half.

He's still not yet ready to go 90min 2-3 times a weak. Once he find that 90min consistency, he'll be pretty good.

With their two starting CBs out for the match @ Lille, Ajax is in a world of hurt.

On the other hand, Valencia at home is formidable, even for a top-form Chelsea (which is not this one yet).

And he faded, which is why he had an uncharacteristic bad touch in the box late when he was wide open and he was not in the box at all late when the ball was crossed in front of the goal.

Still did much more than both Willian and Mount.

Fourth start in 11 days? With tons of media after the hat trick? At maybe the most energy-depleting position on the field?

He may not have elite lungs, but he's fine in that department.

Also, after the Bats for Kovacic sub, he may have been coached to play slightly more withdrawn, though we won't know that.

I think that VAR is necessary because soccer games often involve individual calls that are both very decisive and impossible to reliably make in real time (offside and penalties). And in the case of penalties, the combination of unreliability and decisiveness strongly incentivizes dishonest play.

The main downside is that slow motion replay can make unintentional actions look more deliberate- because replay can hint to our subconscious that players see in 360 degrees, already know what's going to happen next, and aren't limited by human reaction time (I think the same tendency sometimes leads fans to accuse players of blowing "sitters" that aren't). So, it's not surprising that much of the controversy involves handball PKs.

All I said is that he faded again and I wish he had LD's lungs, which were as elite as they get. I'm arguing against anything you have said and I'm not sure you are arguing against anything I've said.

Willian stayed relevant throughout the match. I wasn't sure Pulisic was playing towards the end. Not saying one was better than the other, but they are on the pitch for different things.

Don’t forget he got an assist stolen from him when Azpi vultured the 2nd goal in the 2nd half. That was as a 10.
