Frankie believes Pulisic will score lots of goals. With these quotes, it's hard to sit Pulisic on the bench in favor of Odoi. It looks like Odoi got lots of work to do to unseat Pulisic. "Willian takes people out of the game with his pace and I love that Christian scored a goal from four yards out," Lampard added. "He could have decided not to go the extra mile and that ball flashes across the face and no one gets on the end of it. "If he continues doing that sort of thing then the goals will rack up. His general performance was top as well."
Lampard has the most consecutive appearances for field players. Brad Friedel easily surpasses him with 310 consecutive appearances. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/brad-friedel-and-other-incredible-premier-league-records-8202614.html?amp Not to diminish Lampard's record, but we all should know Yanks Abroad related records here! Edit: I believe you were only talking about Chelsea, and in regards to Mourino being a rotational manager, but I'll leave it up to give Big Brad some props.
The goal was on a great run by CP. Very smart run, nice little feint to the near post and cut to the middle. Veyr intelligent play, obviously fed by a better pass by Abraham. Regardless, a great goal in any book. I agree with the previous poster that I look forward to how things will look with a healthy Kante. A front four of Mount, Abraham, CHO and Pulisic is a pretty dynamic force. Right now though CHO is still coming back from a major injury and CP is finding his EPL form so Willian and Pedro still will feature regularly. I'm satisfied with the state of things from the perspective of a Yank Abroad fan.
Really great to see Pulisic growing as a player. This is exactly the type of improvement you expect with age and experience. He's still the same guy he's always been with the same abilities and 90% the same skill set, but he's learning how and when to use his skills. It's the mental game that comes later in most cases. Let's hope it continues. But yeah, even if it does he will still miss games here and there. He's at a big club with a lot of quality players fighting for time. Being on the bench now and then to motivate him whenever he slips an inch isn't the worst thing in the world.
Mount falls mentally asleep there - don't know why you wouldn't at least get to the top of the box when Tammy is setting up a potential cross or cutback pass. Probably should have been moving forward for a square ball while Willian was pushing forward with pace, too. Still, good carrying the ball from CP and Willian, very good passes from Willian and Abraham, and very good job cutting inside his marker by CP to put himself in position for the easy finish.
Some talk on the Chelsea forums about CHO returning to the U21 or reserves training for a spell until he gets more fitness about him. Not easy to come back from a torn achilles but he's got youth on his side. Pedro seems a complete non factor right now but then again so did Pulisic 6 weeks ago. As noted lots of competition for the attacking spots game to game and Pulisic will have a dip in form at some point as another attacker rises, or vice versa. I hate to admit I'm becoming a fan of this chelsea team. they can play some pretty football and have a young likable squad.
I thought he had a terrific first half. His decision making was sound and he showed great timing - released the ball early when necessary and held a while longer when his teammates lagged. He was unlucky not to score a second. He had two give aways in the second half, one of which resulted in a good scoring chance. He tracked back on the second one and won the ball back - something he did quite a bit of in Germany. The coach clearly dictated a change in tempo in the second half and Pulisic was clearly following instructions
The narrative now is going to be that the Achilles tendon injury ruined CHO, but in reality he didn't show anything spectacular at the Premier level before that injury. In fact his numbers are better now than last season: 1 assist in 391' then against 3 assists in 222' now.
Chelsea fans talk about CHO as if he was worth £100 million, but he didn't show it. Age is no excuse, Dembélé (a true £100 million player) had shown his value at 18. It's just typical of the English media and fans to inflate their players to stupid levels.
Am I missing the part where CHO is having a terrible year? Because it seems to me he's playing pretty well as an 18-year-old in the Premier League recovering from injury, contributing to a top 4 team/offense, and winning playing time over some good players. He's shown more than just flashes this year, and getting playing time because the coach thinks he helps them win, not for his development or injury desperation. He's fine, let him improve. Don't think 90 minutes a game for a month with the reserves solves any problems for him at this point.
As a winger, your job is not just to provide assists and score when possible, but half of your job is to provide cover during counters and support as an outlet when under pressure. CHO is not exactly shining in those areas, that's why the rumors of him being sent with the kids.
If they can stop giving up easy goals, they are a top 4 team for sure. With a very real chance of moving ahead of Man City and Leicester into the #2 spot. They have given up the most goals from the top 12 teams.
Actually, just looking at the data, Lampard's figure was the highest at that time, (mid noughties IIRC). Brad's figure ended in about 2012-13 I believe. But all very impressive for the guys mentioned Of course, the figures for outfield players are usually a lot lower due to injuries,
The Sun is totally trolling: https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/10260203/chelsea-transfer-jadon-sancho/ Saying that the team surely need new wingers w/ Pedro and Willian likely gone... And of course... there is no mention of CP at all. What the team really needs is a couple of new defenders.
Amateurish, high school-level piece written for that rag by a Chelsea fan ("Fan's View"). Amusing the fan lamented that Pedro needed to be replaced soon because his contract is almost up -- at this point, Pedro is now further down on the bench than Giroud.
