At a point in the season GBS stopped playing young guys, to be like classic Galaxy. So they never fully integrated. That better happen w/ Araujo and co. next season. Right now GBS is playing cb's at fb. And oddly he's playing a fb at cb. It's getting him torched.
The clarity of Ibra's game is something else. It's not complicated. I wonder if Schelotto got it wrong when he moved JDos forward for this game v. LAFC.
Because you think they'll develop his vision and decisiveness better than Philly has early in the process? I definitely don't want him going anywhere near Portland, except if he wants to go on vacation, smoke some kine buds, go biking, and find a girl who hasn't showered in a week because she wants to save water.
That's a call Philly isn't likely to take. Also their asking price will be very high. Better teamates huh? He's playing alongside full internationals in Haris Medunjanin (former captain for Bosnia), Bedoya (has captained the US before) and Jamiro Montiero who plays for Cape Verde. Ilsinho has played in the UCL and won a UEFA Cup with Shaktar, plus got a few games with the Brazilian Team. Philly doesn't lack talent. Arronson lacks experience and just turned 19. Yeah, my eye test doesn't back that rating up. Trusty was routinely caught out of position, & made untimely giveaways that directly led to goals. There's a reason he lost his starting spot. Not to mention he set his standard of play very high in 2018. He was not playing at that level this season, he was below it.
Well, I'm looking at Lletget and Kitchen as dub6's and I can't see JDos because he's too far forward to be in picture.
I've been wondering why Ale has been excluded. He wouldn't have to be d-mid. You could play him as a shuttler and move Wes to the 6.
Is it possible that Bedoya is too outspoken? I think Besler, Bedoya, and a few others don't think Bradley should be getting auto-starts and $7MM/year. That hurts Mikey's feelings, so they are not included. So much of GB's selections goes back to this time last year. He wrote something in ink, and he has not deviated from it with the personnel. He has changed guys around in different places, in different formations, but generally the same guys. Certainly Bedoya could do the Roldan job better. But the Roldan job didn't exist when GB brought his MLS guys in and spent a month teaching them The System. Roldan was a placeholder for McKennie. But McKennie has been moved all over, the position has been moved back to help Bradley mostly. But nobody new is brought in, just whatever Cupcaker is around gets the start. Holmes should even be ahead of Bedoya and both should be in the mix with Roldan out. But here we are. Some guys don't get a shot and others get to fail repeatedly.
The Galaxy were a bit of defensive sieve, but Lletget put in 5 tackles from his a-mid position. LAFC did a good job of varying their press through the first two-thirds of the game.
Much like Acosta and Canouse, Bedoya's crossword puzzle skills has been judged by Trapp and GB to not be international quality.
It's funny how it's possible to be older than Mikey, yet so much better than Mikey. I don't think Mikey likes it.
Final four kick off tonight with LAFC v Seattle. US eligible players in final four (starters, projected): WEST -------------------------gk:Miller ---------x------blackmon--x----harvey -----------------------------x -----------------nguyen------x -----------------x---------x-------x --------------morris------x------- ---------------x-----------x--------roldan ---------x----------x------------x---------x ------------------------Gk: Frei EAST: -----------------------gk: x -------x-------gonzo--------x---morrow ----------------------bradley ----------delgado-------------x -------------------------x --------------jozy--------------x --------------------------x -----x-----nagbe------x-----gressel -------------------larentowicz --x-----------x-----------------x---------x ------------------gk: guzan The team with most US eligible is in Canada. Go figure, With CBA coming up, I wonder if there should be a rule about how many US Citizens have to start a play-off game. 4? It might help develop the pool for USSF.
On this... -Make HGP cap exempt players forever. -Make non-HGP domestic players 50% cap exempt -Add a legacy player rule where domestic players who have been with the league for 5 years become 50% cap exempt, and after 10 years 100% cap exempt. -Make DP cap exempt. -Limit the international slots. -Allow teams to bargain for the cap exempt status. -Require all teams to have an academy and reserve team in USL Championship/League One. Add eventually a u23 team as well. -Provide bonus for u23 HGP reaching certain amount of minutes. -Allow u23 HGP to go free agent if at the MLS/USL level they did not play 1000 minutes (injuries, suspensions, call ups, etc considered in appeal)
