Honestly, not sure it was an attempt to hurt anyone... he was busting his ass to try and win the ball... I don't disagree with it being red. But I don't think it was intentionally malicious.
This has been quite a game. Cant say there is no passion in MLS. For those who may continue to imply (and in some cases pretty much say) that the MLS schedule is just a bunch of glorified friendlies ... screw you.
That's how I saw it too. Won't help Svensson feel any better, and it's a clear red for a bad foul. And Everton did look a bit of an ass for implying Svensson was faking.
Point of contact had the leg/ankle caught between the studs and the ground. I'd be shocked if he doesn't get 2+ games total for that one.
I just saw the replay of Matarrita's foul on the penalty that won the game for TFC. Utterly inexcusable.
That was the kind of play you'd commit if the fix was in. Not suggesting anything untoward was actually happening, but he couldn't have misplayed that any worse.
Definitely lacked situational or game awareness. And, he is probably glad that play happened in a U.S.-based league.
.... and in case anybody missed the extraordinaire Pozuelo post-match interview aired live on TSN, here it is!
I wish they'd do something about the fact that the Atlanta supporters section comes across the TV mics sounding like 2 or 3 drunk dudes screaming/singing completely out of tune.
I'm undecided if the defending or the goalkeeping was worse on that. Regardless, it should have been taken care of.
